🌟 Luminate the Day – Chapter Five 🌟

A huge milestone is upon us! Luminary Fitness and Windy Willow Foundation are proud to host our FIFTH nonprofit fit-festLuminate the Day, right here in Grand Rapids, MI.

Luminate the Day (LTD) is a 100% nonprofit competition raising funds and awareness for Windy Willow Foundation, an organization dedicated to access, advocacy, and action for mental health initiatives. Their mission focuses on addressing root challenges in mental health, wellness, and suicide prevention for youth.

Workouts

Floater 2: Brick by Brick

The Workout: 400m Junk Carry for Time.

Equipment:

  • Men: (1) 100lb Sandbag, (1) 53lb Kettlebell, (2) 45lb Plates.

Women: (1) 70lb Sandbag, (1) 35lb Kettlebell, (2) 35lb Plates.

Standard: Forward progress is only made while all objects are off the ground. Items can be traded at any point.

  • If you need to drop and rest, you may NOT make any forward progress until the object is off the ground.
  • Each athlete must cross the finish line with an implement. Athlete 1 cannot finish and then go back to grab/finish with Athlete 2’s implement.

The Workout: 3-minute Max Reps of:

6 Worm Clean and Jerk

6 Synchro Burpee Over Worm

Worm Weight: 245lbs (Mens) / 185lbs (Womens).

12-Minute Clock (or until a lift is failed)

The Workout:

Movement: Clean (Power or Squat)

Format: 3-2-1 Rep Scheme (Athlete 1 does 3 reps, Athlete 2 does 2, Athlete 3 does Once the cycle is complete, the team moves up to the next weight.

Weight Progression:

Movement Standards:

  • Clean: Barbell starts on the ground. Athletes bring the bar to the shoulders. Hips and knees must be fully extended with feet in line and elbows in front of the bar.

Strategy: The 3-2-1 order is not fixed and can change each round, but an athlete cannot be "bailed out" once they start their designated reps.

WOD 2: Kingpin (Scaled)

12-Minute Clock

The Workout: Follows the same 3-2-1 format as RX.

  • 50 Toes-to-Bar
  • 40 Pull-Ups
  • 30 HSPU


WOD 1: South Beach Sweat (Scaled)

20 Minute Cap

The Workout:

  • 4,500m (Male) / 4,000m (Female) Row
  • 4 Rounds For Time:
    • 50 Knee Raises
    • 40 Pull-Ups (Ring Rows allowed)
    • 30 HSPU (15lb Plate + 1 Abmat)

WOD 3: Wiretap (RX)
14 Minute Cap

The Workout (Relay Style):

  • Athlete 1: 21-15-9 DB Snatches (50/35lb) AND 15-12-9 Calorie Bike.
  • Athlete 2: 21-15-9 OH Squat (95/65lb) AND 42-30-18 Double Unders.
  • Athlete 3: 21-15-9 Thrusters (95/65lb) AND 12-9-6 Burpee Over Bar.

Workout Flow:  At 3…2…1…GO Athlete 1 will begin on the 21-15-9 of DB Snatch and Calorie Bike.

  • Athlete 2 can begin only after Athlete 1 has completed the entirety of the couplet and has run across to tag in the next Athlete.

WOD 3: Wiretap (Scaled)

14 Minute Cap

The Workout:

  • Athlete 1: 21-15-9 DB Snatches (35/25lb) AND 15-12-9 Calorie Bike.
  • Athlete 2: 21-15-9 OH Squat (75/55lb) AND 63-45-27 Single Unders.
  • Athlete 3: 21-15-9 Thrusters (75/55lb) AND 12-9-6 Burpee Over Bar.
