BOA - Music City Fit Expo - Nashville

We are excited to be a part of the Music City Fit Expo!

This year there will be over 100 fitness vendors with lots of fun things planned! 

Since October of 2015 BOA has traveled all over the United States entertaining athletes of all ages.

Teams of four require each member to be born in a different decade. This can be done in two ways: The first number in the age are all different or the date of birth all in a different decade.

EVENTS

Berserker

In the Old Norse written corpus, berserkers were those who were said to have fought in a trance-like fury, a characteristic which later gave rise to the modern English word berserk (meaning "furiously violent or out of control").

With a 10 minute time cap:

A team member will complete each of the following movements. All four movements must be completed. A different team member for each.

400 meter run (200 out and 200 back)
500 meter row
500 meter ski
35 Cal Bike

There will also be a Thruster bar to accumulate as many reps as possible for the duration. Athletes may switch out at any time. The bar must be placed on the ground prior to changing athletes.

The total number of Thrusters will reduce the relay time by 1 second.

When an athlete completes their part of the relay there will be a designated area that the athlete must move to in order for the next athlete to start.

Once the relay is complete the thrusters will continue to the 10 minute cap.

Ironside

12 Minutes

Max Clean - Any type of clean as long as the bar starts from the ground.

The lift will be considered successful when the athlete has the bar in the front rack position with elbows in front of the bar with hips and knees fully extended.

Athletes may make as many attempts as needed. Weight can go up and down as needed.

Clips will be required on the bar.

There will be two bars at each station 35/45.

The total amount of weight at each station will be 375 LBS unless notified by the team prior to starting the heat.

The score will be the combined total of the best lift for all four athletes.

Blood Eagle

There’s an infamous legend that Vikings carried out a beautifully brutal torture ritual said to have involved spreading a person’s ribs from their spine to symbolize an eagle’s wings and hanging their lungs out through the wounds while they are still alive.

Tire Drag - Spike Drive

There will be one tire (weight tbd) with an eye bolt passing through the tread area secured from behind. The tire will be lying on its side.

There will be a 20' climbing rope connected to the eye bolt.

The team will drag the tire for distance measured in 5' increments. It will be a down and back set up. The team will have to turn the tire in the opposite direction for each length (TBA). The dragging surface will be the same as possible for all teams.

At one end of the course, there will be a pressure-treated 8 x 8 cut to approximately 13" standing vertically. There will be 12" spike nails in a bucket. example. The nail will have markings at every inch. Each time the tire is dragged to this end one teammate will have two hammer hits with a 4 LB mallet. Example.

to drive the nail into the wood. When the top of the nail reaches the wood a new nail will be started. The athlete starting a new nail must be sure not to strike and cause the nail to come off the target. If this is to occur the team will be penalized 10 points. Every inch of the nail driven into the wood will represent 10 points. The total value of 1 full nail is 120 points.

Saw

Vikings used the wood to build ships, and warriors sailed these ships to raid other countries for their best resources.

Each team will have a pressure-treated 4 x 6 post section and a new 20" hand saw. Example

With a 10-minute time cap each member of the team will make a cut through the post.

There will be a designated spot for an athlete to lay the handsaw prior to the next athlete starting.

Score is the combined time that it takes for all four members of the team to make a full cut.
