About This Competition
A change for 2023 ADVENTURE THROWDOWN SNOWDONIA will see TEAMS OF FOUR battle it out across a series of fitness and adventure challenges in a true test of fitness and teamwork.
Accessible for a wide range of athletes with the emphasis on how you adapt as a team, to overcome unusual movements and new skills this competition is for the regular box goer up to the elite athlete.
For 2023 we have 2 categories:
EVERYDAY which is inclusive for ALL with lighter weights, no minimum work requirements, simple gymnastic movements and a gentle intro to our water based events. Perfect for your first comp or if you want to go a little harder at the Saturday evening party.
ADVANCED will see heavier weights, higher reps, longer distances and more work. Gymnastic movements will include muscle ups, HSPU and some synchro work. Some of the team should be comfortable with swimming. Perfect for teams who are looking to pit themselves against some tough workouts for a full weekend.
STRIVEFEST
ADVENTURE THROWDOWN SNOWDON is now part of StriveFest....... what this means is throughout the weekend there will be live music playing on the main stage, with a wide selection of street food and bars. Alongside the adventure fitness competition we will share Adventure Parc Snowdoinia with Trail Runners, Spartan Racers and BJJ Competitors.
If you are competing in ADVENTURE THROWDOWN SNOWDON admission to StriveFest is included in your athlete ticket. Any spectators will need to purchase a ticket here
CAMPING
There is also the option to camp on site - either in a fully dressed bell tent of 2, 4 or 6, campervan and bring your own tent options.

Workouts
80 burpee fence vaults (2 people working at a time)
In rotation, each team member will complete 3 sets of 15 wall balls @ 9/6kg
If all wall balls are finished before the burpee fence vaults then it becomes a 3 person synchro workout
8 rounds for time of:
9 worm deadlifts
9 burpees over the worm
After the 8th round is complete the whole team will exit the arena and drag a loaded sled (20kg) down Clark Street and back before finishing back in the arena.
The team members will be labelled A, B, C and D (no requirement on M/F demarcation). Each round will be completed by 3 team members with 1 person resting. For clarity, round 1 will be ABC, round 2 will be BCD, round 3 will be CDA, round 4 will be DAB and rounds 5-8 will repeat this pattern.
On a stand up paddleboard (SUP), starting at the western end of the lagoon, team members will each paddle a length, turn around a set marker, and paddle back to swap over with their next team mate. Once the SUP has been out and back across the water four times the workout is a running event for the whole team. The team will exit the venue between the tipi and the huts, cross over the road and climb the path parallel to the pipe to the finish line at the building at the top of the hill.
If there is someone in your team who is unwilling, or unable, to access the water portion of this workout then all the team members who are using the SUP will go first before the remaining team member(s) perform an equivalent amount of work on dry land. Full details of the dry option will be revealed on the day.
The whole team will work together for 8 x 2 minute intervals of:
Max reps dumbbell shoulder to overhead
At the start of each 2 minute interval one team member will mount a surfboard, paddle across the lagoon. When they have crossed the fence the rest of the team start doing dumbbell shoulder to overhead.
Everyday
Dumbbells - 1 x 22.5 + 1 x 15kg - both dumbbells are to be used in synchro with any team member using any dumbbell
2 rounds for time of:
30 burpee box overs @ 24/20”
70 dumbbell hang to overhead @ 22.5/15kg
One team member working at any one time on the box or dumbbell, but for reps to count the rest of the team must have the worm off the floor with their hips and knees locked out.
The team will split into MM/FF pairs to work through 6 x 3 minute work intervals.
Men will work on 1/3/5, while women will work on 2/4/6.
Work can be split up however the pair desires, with one person working at any one time
30 dumbbell thrusters
20 sandbags over the fence
Max reps in time remaining of a specified gymnastics movement
