"The Gritty" Partner Throwdown

FUNCTIONAL FITNESS PARTNER COMPETITION

Get ready to throw down and have fun!

$80 per team plus applicable taxes/fees

This is a in-house competition and about inclusivity, having fun, testing your teamwork and your fitness, so it will be 2 Divisions (see minimum movement requirements below)

REFUND POLICY: NO REFUNDS. NO EXCEPTIONS. Athlete substitutions until the day before the event. Athletes must fit the same division as the original registrant.

Movement Standards for each division

Intermediate Division:

Jumping pull ups

25/15 Plate Ground to Overhead

24/20” Box Jumps

Push Ups 

35/25 Dumbbell

Clean and Jerk 

20/14 Wall Ball

135/95lb Deadlift

115/75lb Front Squat


Fun Division

Jumping pull ups

25/15 Plate Ground to Overhead

16-20” Box Jumps

Hand Release Push Ups

14/10 Wall Ball

95/65lb Deadlift

75/55lb Front Squat

 

Workout Release Date: Workouts, videos, and movement standards will be released starting the week of Dec 2nd. 

Rules & Regulations: 

No bags to be stored in the athlete warm up area. The MPR room in the gym will be used for bag storage, for athletes only. 

Only athletes are allowed in the athlete area.

It is all athlete’s responsibility to familiarize themselves with each event before the start of the competition. The event briefings are not mandatory and will not go into extensive detail in order to optimize time.

Athletes will be needed to judge/score at least one heat in each event. 

In the event of a disagreement between an athlete and a judge, the judges decision is final.

Warm up space is limited, please allow the individuals who are closer to their heat time priority over the equipment.

It is each athletes' responsibility to be ready for their heat 15 minutes ahead of time to be corralled. Failure to do so may result in not participating in that event.

Parking for the day will be along the south and west side of the gym, as well as overflow parking will be in the parking lot directly south of the gym.

Event 3: For Reps

 

Intermediate

12 min AMRAP

50 Synchro Plate Sit Ups (25/15)

"FUN":

12 min AMRAP

50 Synchro Plate Sit Ups (15/10)

40 Cal Row + 20 Shuttle Runs (working same time)

30 Synchro Box Step Overs (20')

20 DB Snatch (25/15) (split) 


Description: Athletes will start on starting mats. At the call of go, athletes will complete synchro Plate Sit Up reps. Teams must have plate touching ground at the feet at the same time for rep to count. For the machine/run, athletes will both work on opposite movements at the same time. One athlete Rows and the other Runs. They may switch at any time and will continue to work until Rower reads 40 calories and 20 Shuttle runs are completed. The Box Jump Overs will start with both athletes having both feet on the ground. Each athlete has their own box. The rep ends with all 4 feet on top of the box. Athletes will then step down on the other side to start the next rep. Step Ups (for FUN) will be performed the same. All 4 feet on the ground and then on top of the box at the same time. A step-down is required in all divisions (If needed "FUN" athletes may do a Box Get Over on 20' box instead of Step Over). The Snatches will be back and forth as desired, BOTH DB heads MUST make contact with the ground at the same time until the total reps are complete. When teams complete a round, a new round begins until the 12 minutes are up.

 

 

Event 2: For Load

6 min AMRAP 

Max Clean and Jerks

*Score is total weight lifted (# reps multiplied by weight of bar)

*Athletes on each team MUST use the same bar

*Teams can choose between 75/55, 95/65, 115/75, 135/95 

*For example, 120 reps @135 = a score of 16,200, 160 reps @95 = a score of 15,200, etc.


FUN is the same as INTERMEDIATE for this event


Description: Prior to starting, athletes will choose their workout weight and load their bar. There is one barbell per team, shared between partners. Athletes may not change their weight choice during the workout. 


Athletes will start facing the bar. On the call of 3..2..1.. GO, athletes will accumulate as many Clean and Jerk reps as possible at their chosen weight. The barbell starts on the floor for each rep. Athletes may not lower to the hang position before cleaning the bar. A squat or power clean is allowed. A shoulder press, push press, push jerk, or split jerk may be used to get the weight overhead. The barbell must come to full lockout overhead with the hips, knees, and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the middle of the body.

Max Cal Air Bike in 6:00

"FUN" Division:

AMRAP 16

Max Cal Air Bike in 6:00

16 Front Squats @75/55 (split) 

8 Synchro Lateral Updowns Over Bar

This event has 1 Total Score

Score= Total of max calorie bike in the first 6 min + max calorie bike in the last piece


Description: Athlete 1 will start on the Bike and Athlete 2 will rest. They may switch back and forth as needed during the 6 minutes. At the end of the first AMRAP, teams will go straight into Front squats will be split as desired when they have completed their Front Squats; athletes will go right into Synchro Lateral Burpees. Athletes will lay on opposite sides of the bar. When they stand up, they will jump to the opposite side of the bar (scaled division is allowed to step.) As soon as they finish the 4 rounds, athletes will make their way back to the bike and accumulate as many calories back and forth as possible until the 16 minutes is up. At the call of time, athletes must stop pedaling. The score will be calculated @ TIME.
