CFHOW Open: Return of the Pack

6th of May 2023


Following the momentous success of the first ever CFHOW Open competition, we are excited to announce that we will being it all over again. Bigger and better than in 2022, we will welcome 60 teams in same-sex pairs over 3 categories to compete in some challenging CrossFit workouts.


Everyone is welcome! Whether you love CrossFit, Functional Fitness, or anything in between this competition is open to all.


So, as always, let's be brutally honest… there's 3 categories (RX, RX(ish), and Scaled) and to help you decide which to enter here's some detail:


  • RX - if you train mostly CrossFit, or if you feel competent in a mixture of weightlifting, gymnastics and engine work, then you should expect a higher level of skills and different movements. An example of some of the skills you may come across are - handstand push ups, handstand walks, chest to bar, muscle ups, toes to bar, snatches and clean and jerks. And an example of the weights you may come across are 60/42.5kg thrusters or 85/65kgs clean and jerks.
  • RX(ish) - if you also have an understanding the movements and you can do them - albeit not at the same pace or intensity as Mr/Mrs Rx in the corner - then this is the one for you… The repetitions and weight will be reduced as appropriate. 
  • Scaled - If you really enjoy training but haven’t quite mastered the skill set needed for RX(ish) and RX, or can’t quite hit the same numbers… then this category is for you. We have scaled options available or reduced weight where needed.

Workouts

15 minutes to build to max complex weight for both athletes of:


The Bella Complex

  • 1 Clean
  • 1 STOH
  • 1 Front Squat
  • 1 STOH


The team's score will be the total combined weight of both athlete's heaviest successful lift.

The lift must be completed (locked out at top of 2nd STOH) to count. There is no tie-breaker for this workout.

20 minutes to complete as many reps as possible of:


  • 20 Burpee Box Jumps Overs (YGIG)
  • 30 Wall Balls
  • 40 Calorie Ski
  • 50 Double Unders each*


*every trip before completing 50 DUs both athletes complete 3 synchro burpees

♂ 30" Box & 9kg Wallball | ♀ 24" Box & 6kg Wallball

Wall Balls and Ski can be split in any way.

Time Cap: 20 Minutes

For time, athletes will aim to complete:


  • 75 Dual Dumbbell Snatch 
  • 75 Toes to Bar
  • 50 Dual Dumbbell Thrusters
  • 50 Chest to Bar
  • 25 Dual Devils Press
  • 25 Bar Muscle Ups


All movements can be split as you please between the pair. 


♂ 2 x 22.5kg Dumbbells | ♀ 2 x 15kg Dumbbells


Score will be time completed. Or, total reps complete at the end of 18 minutes.

For time, athletes will aim to complete:


  • 21 Worm Deadlifts
  • 15 Worm Shoulder to Overhead
  • 9 Synchro Worm Burpees
  • 10m Handstand Walk (each)


Athlete 1 must complete their full 10m HS Walk before partner can start theirs. 


Kick down is only allowed at end of first 5m distance.


Score will be time completed. Or, total reps complete at the end of 10 minutes.
