Welcome to the 2024 Belgium Showdown Buddy Qualifiers.

  • Qualifiers: September 1-30, 2024
  • Finals: November 9th, 2024
  • Location: Topsporthalle, Gent

General info

The success of our competitions is the focus on the beginning athlete. By beginning athlete we mean anyone who has little to no competition experience and wants to experience this as a team. Our competitions are also the perfect start for your progression to higher level competitions.

We want everyone who participate, regardless of their fitness level, to experience the feeling of being on the competition floor, cheered by hundreds of spectators, friends and family and where you can shine in our community. 

Our competitions do not have an elite division because it does not fit within our beginner concept. The organization reserves the right to: 

  • refuse these athletes at its individual and buddy competitions;
  • reassign these athletes to a higher division at its buddy division (is considered on a case-by-case basis).

If you have any doubts whether you can participate or not, we ask you to inform us in advance by sending us an email via the email address you can find below.

The concept:

  • earn your team spot to the finals via the qualifier;
  • designed for the beginner athlete;
  • if you make it to the finals >>> NO multiple, long, hard workouts spread out over 2 or more days;
  • only 1 day of competition for ALL divisions;
  • tight time schedule so everyone knows when to start and when it is done;
  • ALL participants are doing 3 different workouts spread out during the day with NO cut-off;
  • NO finals to determine the 1th, 2th and 3th place overall;
  • testing endurance, strength, power, skill, bodyweight exercises or a mix of all mentioned;
  • we offer a parent/kid division in our Buddy edition with custom workouts.

The competition includes four levels to play:

  • Scaled
  • Regular
  • Advanced
  • RX

Unique in the Scandinavian Throwdown divisions are the sub-divisions. You can team up in the following sub-divisions:

  • M/M
  • F/F
  • M/F
  • M/M 70+ (not in RX)
  • F/F 70+ (not in RX)
  • M/F 70+ (not in RX
  • Dad/Kid (Age kid 6-12)
  • Mom/Kid (Age kid 6-12)

Workouts

Workout 2:  ( Check the Score Card for the movementstandards)

For Max total Weight 

6 rounds (3 rounds each)

90 seconds work/ 30 seconds rest

Buy in: 4 burpee box jumps over @24/20 inch (scaled + regular can do step overs)

into

max rounds + reps of:

2 squat cleans

2 shoulder to overheads @own weight choice


*Before the workout starts athletes can choose their own weight for their barbell. After the start the weights can’t be changed! Each athlete can have their own barbell and the total score is the weight times the amount of reps completed.

For time “Push Pull Diane”


21-15-9

Handstand push ups (push up regular/ knee push ups scaled)

Duo deadlifts @120/85 -> 100/70 -> 85/55 -> 70/45 kg

Pull ups (regular-> pull ups 15-12-9 /scaled-> Ring rows)


*Each athlete chooses a gymnastics movement for this workout to perform. After the handstand push ups are performed by athlete A both athletes will complete the duo deadlifts before athlete B can start to perform their pull ups. This flow will continue during the workout until all repetitions are completed.

AMRAP 14 minutes 

2 rounds of:

30 Swedish KB swings (weights @28/20 -> @24/16 -> @20/12 -> 16/8 kg)

30/24 cal row 


2 rounds of:

20 single arm KB thrusters  

20/16 cal row 


In remaining time max rounds + reps of:

10 single arm hang kb snatches 

10/8 cal row
