About This Competition

The CrossFit Volentia Same Sex 3's Throwdown is back for 2024!   Grab 2 buddies of the same sex (FFF or MMM) and get signed up for an awesome day of competition here at CrossFit Volentia.  With testing workouts, great prizes on offer and various vendors on the day, you're guaranteed an awesome time here in July! There will be plenty of challenging workouts and you'll be tested in all aspects of CrossFit including; gymnastics, weightlifting, endurance and strength!  Useful information: - TICKETS NOW LIVE! - No qualifiers. - Open category which is accessible for all abilities. There will be scaling options available for any higher skill movements that pop up. You WILL be able to compete and you WILL be challenged no matter your level of fitness/ experience!  - 4 scored events for ALL teams - Amazing prizes for all podium finishers - Food and drinks available on the day - Spectators get in for free, so bring the whole family - Amazing photos from the day from Ded Pixel Photography   Movement standards: You will need a good understanding of all of the foundational CrossFit movements (KB swing, barbell movements, wallballs, bodyweight movements etc). We will ensure that all WODS are accessible to you and your teammates, scaling options will be available if needed.  Fear not, just because the workouts are accessible to all doesn't mean that they will be easy! Our competitions are aimed at being both FUN and CHALLENGING!    More information will be sent to you directly closer to the event. This will include: - Parking information  - Timings for the day.  - A request for team information  etc.    We hope to see you here at CrossFit Volentia in June!    Note: We operate a no refund policy. Should you not be able to make the event you can pass your ticket onto someone else to use if you wish. Trans policy: When registering for a competition individuals should enter the category which matches their sex at birth. This applies to individual competitions as well us multiples such as single sex pairs, same sex 3’s and quad squad which requires 2 male and 2 female athletes. Scores and overall position within a competition will be calculated by birth sex rather than the gender competitors identify as, if these two things differ.

Workouts

For max reps in a 9 min window:

Part A 

  • MAX Row for calories (each teammate rows for 3 mins)

Part B 

AMRAP in synchro pairs 

  • 4 Thrusters (1 x KB/ 1 x DB)
  • 8 TTB/ 16 hanging knee raises 
  • 12 Hang clean and STO (1 x KB/ 1 x DB) 
  • 16 Box overs (24/20'')

NOTE: Your score is calories completed + Reps of the AMRAP competed. Any dropped dumbells or KB's will be 5 burpees for both athletes on the AMRAP. Good luck :)

 

Weights: 17.5/12.5kg    -     16/12kg

Clean ladder   -   60s work, 30s transition x 5 stations 

Female weights: 

  • 30  - 37.5 - 45 - 52.5 - 60kg

Male weights: 

  • 50 - 60 - 70 - 80 - 90kg

 

NOTE: Your score is total KG lifted across all bars. So if you complete 10 reps at 50, your score is currently 500kg.

5 Min AMRAP: 

  • 30 Barbell Front squats (35/50)
  • 30 Deadlifts
  • 30 Barbell STO's 

After this workout you will rest 60s until 6:00 and then move onto WOD 4. 

NOTE: When one athlete is working through the AMRAP one partner must hold the KB (16/12) in the goblet position and one must be in a straight arm plank.

 

NOTE: This workout starts on 6:00 on the clock after WOD 3. 

5 Min AMRAP - all teammates synchro. 

  • 15 Air squats 
  • 10 Line facing burpees 
  • 15 Air squats 
  • 20 Line facing burpees 

NOTE: One athlete will be on one side of the line, two on the other side.
