Bangkok Throwdown Qualifier 2023
About This Competition
Welcome to the Bangkok Throwdown 2023 Qualifier!
There will be 3 workouts for this qualifier, released one at a time with one week between each. The first workout is released July 28th, workout 2 the following week, and workout 3 the week following.
The final submission deadline is Bangkok Local Time.
- 23:59 August 15th for Qualifier 1
- 23:59 August 18th for Qualifier 2
- 23:59 August 20th for Qualifier 3.
You have until the deadline to submit all 3 workouts.
To be eligible for qualification, you must attach a video.
At the conclusion of the qualifiers, there will be a video review period to validate scores.
Please review the video submission guidelines.
After scores are validated, Invitations will be sent to the emails registered through competitioncorner. Failure to respond to those emails will result in forfeit of your spot.
There will be no guaranteed substitutions.
Bangkok Throwdown reserves the right to 10 sponsors invites, and those who just miss out will be considered, although not guaranteed, for filling vacated spots.

Bangkok Throwdown Individual Qualifier 1
PART A
By divisions, row 100/90/70/60 calories on the Rower

Workout Flow:
Athlete will begin the workout by seating on the Rower. The monitor of the Rower will be set at the designated Calories counting down.
At the start of 3, 2, 1, go, the athlete will do 1 pull to start the Rower Timer, then proceed into 6/4 lateral burpees over the rower facing away from the monitor.
Athlete will accumulate the designated calories until the next minute and continue to proceed with 6/4 lateral burpees over the rower until completion.
At completion, the athlete goes into a 2:00 force rest from the time on the rower.
The second part of the workout will start after the 2:00 rest, for example, if the athlete completes the row at 7:49, his/her workout will resume at 9:49.
The athlete now will attempt to accumulate as many as line facing pogo burpees as the first part. Every minute from the starting minute, the athlete must start with 6/4 dumbbell goblet squats before accumulation of the burpees until total completion.
This workout has No Time Cap.
Movement Standards:
Rowing -
- Athlete must be seated and hands on thighs before the start of the workout.
- Athlete must show the monitor at start of the workout.
- Athlete must show the monitor upon completion of the calories.
Lateral Burpees over Rower -
- Athlete must perform facing away from the monitor and towards the camera shown in the floor plan.
- Chest and thighs must touch the ground.
- No parts of the body should be touching the rower.
- Athlete may start the burpees from either side of the rower.
- Athlete must hop over the rower with a two feet take off.
- Stepping over is NOT allowed.
- In the case of a NO rep, the athlete will repeat a full repetition from either side of the rower.
Dumbbell Goblet Squat -
- First rep MUST be perform at standing. A squat clean is NOT allowed.
- Athlete must perform the goblet squat facing the rower to show the profile view to the camera.
- Dumbbell must be held either horizontal or vertical in front of the chest as shown in the demo video.
- A valid squat is an athlete's hip crease below the knee caps and returning to standing in a straight line from head to toe.
Line Facing Pogo Burpees -
- Athlete must perform the pogo burpees facing the rower to show the same profile view as the goblet squats.
- Athlete must hop over the line with a two feet take off. Stepping over is NOT allowed.
- Chest and thighs must touch the ground.
- No parts of the body should be touching the tape line.
- In the case of a NO rep, the athlete will repeat a full repetition.

Workout Flow:
Athlete will begin the workout by standing behind the far side of the shuttle run tape line from the camera.
At the start of 3, 2, 1, go, the athlete will have 1:00 to perform as many reps as possible of barbell power snatch at the specified weight by divisions.
Athlete will take a 1:00 rest, then perform 1:00 as many reps as possible of strict handstand push ups. Only Master Female will have an assistance of Ab Mat.
Athlete will take a 1:00 rest, then perform 1:00 as many reps as possible of 50' shuttle run in 25' turnaround.
Athlete will take a 1:00 rest, then directly going into workout 2A in the remaining time.
Movement Standards:
Power Snatch
- Athlete must perform the power snatch each rep from the ground and facing forward to the camera angle.
- Athlete must stand tall where the body is in a straight line from wrists to toes to complete a rep.
- The barbell must be brought to overhead from the ground in one smooth motion.
- The rep counts as long as it's lifted off the ground before the 1:00 mark.
Strict Handstand Push Up -
- Athlete must start the minute at standing position in front of the wall.
- Once the athlete kicks up, the only part of the body touches the wall are the heels to complete a rep.
- If the heels come off the wall during the press out before the lock out, it will be a NO rep.
- Female Masters Divison will have assistance of a standard Ab Mat.
Shuttle run -
- 50' is 1 rep, in the case athlete does not make the distance, the repetition will not count.
- Athlete will start the run behind the starting tape at standing position.
- Athete will pass two feet and one hand touch behind the tape at the 25' turnaround.
- Athlete will repeat this process on both end of the tapelines except the last run of the minute will not need to be hand touching the ground.
In a 16:00 running clock, from 6:00 onwards,

This part of workout weighs 65% of Qualifier 2, 22% of all Qualifiers.

Workout Flow:
After the 5:00 - 6:00 REST from Workout 2, athlete will begin the workout 2A by standing behind the far side of the shuttle run tape line again from the camera.
At the start of 3, 2, 1, go, the athlete will perform 3 reps of barbell clusters, 3 reps inversion pushing skill by each division, and 3 50' lateral shuttle run, then 6 of each movement, then complete the workout at 9 of each movement.
The workout is time capped at 16:00.
Movement Standards:
Cluster -
- Athlete must perform the barbell cluster each rep from the ground and facing forward to the camera angle.
- Athlete must stand tall where the body is in a straight line from wrists to toes to complete a rep.
- The barbell must be brought to overhead from the ground via a squat clean directly into a press. A power clean is NOT allowed. A push jerk is NOT allowed.
Wall Walks -
- Male Master Division ONLY.
- All standards from the latest CrossFit OPEN applies.
Wall Facing Strict Handstand Push Up -
- Individual Male Division ONLY.
- Athlete must start with a wall walk everytime he initiates the first rep. Athlete may come down the wall anyhow.
- Any part of the hand must in contact with the 30" tape line throughout a rep.
- A rep is when the head makes contact with the ground then goes back up with elbows fully extended while feet are in contact with the wall.
- All standards from the latest CrossFit Quarterfinals applies.
Kipping Handstand Push Up -
- Individual Female and Master Female ONLY. Master Female will also have a standard Ab Mat as assistance.
- All standards from the latest CrossFit OPEN apply.
Lateral Shuttle Run -
- 50' is 1 rep, in the case athlete does not make the distance, the repetition will not count.
- Athlete will start the run behind the starting tape line at standing position.
- Athlete will perform the run with the hip squared facing the direction of the barbell.
- At no time one foot can cross the other foot.
- Athete will pass one foot and one hand touch behind the tape at each 25' turnaround.
- Athlete will repeat this process on both end of the tapelines except the last 25' will not need to be hand touching the ground.

Workout Flow:
Athlete will begin the workout by standing in front of the tape line in front of the barbell. The barbell should be at MINIMUM of 2 Meters away from the gymnastics bar.
At the start of 3, 2, 1, go, the athlete will proceed to the gymnastics bar to perform 12+9 Reps of his/her gymnastics movement by specified divisions. The gymnastics movements do NOT need to be unbroken.
Athlete then will perform 12 Deadlift at his/her specified weights by divisions.
Athlete then will add weight to the barbell on his/her own WITHOUT assistance. Barbell clips are mandatory. Athlete may add weight at anytime prior to the next Deadlifts.
Athlete then will perform 9+6 Reps gymnastics, and 9 deadlifts.
Athlete then will perform 6+3 Reps gymnastics, and 6 deadlifts.
Athlete will end the workout crossing the START LINE. Athlete MUST show weights lifted prior or after the workout.
Movement Standards:
Deadlift -
- All latest CrossFit OPEN standards apply.
- Athlete must add the weights by him/herself.
- Barbell clips ON is mandatory.
- Gymnastics grip is allowed. Straps are NOT allowed. Wrapping the bar using the gymnastics grips as straps is NOT allowed.
Pull Up -
- All latest CrossFit OPEN standards apply.
Chest to Bar Pull Up -
- All latest CrossFit OPEN standards apply.
Bar Muscle Up -
- All latest CrossFit OPEN standards apply.
Bar Pull Over -
- Athlete MUST start every rep from a complete straight arm hang.
- Athlete will get on top of the gymnastics bar anyhow from the front side of the bar.
- Athlete will complete the rep by supporting him/herself with straight arms locking out at the top of the bar.
- Athlete must go through some portion of a dip before locking out.
- Hands must be on the gymnastics bar the entire time throughout a repetition.
Team Qualifier 1
Accumulate a 300 Calories on the Rower
Every 2 minutes on the minute since the first minute,
3P standing perform 12 SYNCHRO line facing pogo burpees, then the rower can begin accumulate calories in the remaining 2 minutes.
**switch the rower at the END of every 2 minute so that every athlete will rotate and must maintain the order until the completion.
This Workout has No Time Cap
MF1 & MF2 pair not interchangeable throughout this workout.
In a 18:00 running clock,
0:00 - 1:30 Amrap synchro power snatch, MF pairs relay anyhow. M:50kg / F:32kg
1:30 - 2:00 Rest
2:00 - 3:30 Amrap alternating 1 for 1 kipping handstand push up while partner handstand hold, MF pairs relay anyhow.
3:30 - 4:00 Rest
4:00 - 5:30 Amrap 50’ shuttle run, MF pairs relay anyhow. The running pair must perform 5 sync air squats before tagging out.
5:30 - 6:00 Rest

Workout Flow:
Athletes will begin the workout by standing behind the far side of the shuttle run tape line from the camera.
At the start of 3, 2, 1, go, one MF pair will perform as many reps as possible of synchronized barbell power snatch, and they may tag the other MF pair at anytime and as many times within the :90.
Team will take a :30 rest, then one MF pair will perform as many reps as possible of 1 for 1 kipping handstand push up while partner holding a handstand hold. The two MF pairs may tag in and out at anytime and as many times within the :90.
Team will take a :30 rest, then one MF pair will perform as many reps as possible of 50' shuttle run at 25' turn around. The running pair must perform 5 sychronized air squats before tagging the other pair. The two MF pairs may tag in and out at anytime and as many times within the :90.
Team will take a final :30 rest, then directly going into workout 2A.
Movement Standards:
Synchronized Power Snatch -
- All standards of individual power snatch applies.
- The synchronization of a rep will count at the top of each rep when both athlete stand tall with barbells locked out overhead at the same time.
- The two MF pairs may tag in and out as wished, but cannot interchange teammate between the pairs.
1 for 1 Kipping Handstand Push Up -
- All standards of individual kipping handstand push ups applies.
- The male and female will alternate performing 1 rep ONLY at a time while the other person holding a handstand hold.
- In the case of a NO rep, the same athlete has to repeat that rep again.
- The two MF pairs may tag in and out as wished, but cannot interchange teammate between the pairs.
50' Shuttle run -
- 50' is 1 rep, in the case either athlete does not make the distance, the repetition will not count.
- All standards of individual shuttle run applies.
- The male and female do not need to be synchronized on the run, but each will have to complete the distance to be counted as a rep.
- The two MF pairs may tag in and out as wished, but cannot interchange teammate between the pairs.
Synchronized Air Squats -
- The shuttle running pair will perform 5 reps holding both hands before tagging out to the other pair.
- All air squats standards apply. Synchronization is at the top of each rep at standing.
MF1 & MF2 pair not interchangeable throughout this workout.
In 18:00 running clock, at the 6:00 mark until the remaining time,

Workout Flow:
At the start of the 6:00 mark, athletes will stand at the far side of the shuttle run tape again.
Specified pair will work through the order of specified movements. Tagging between the movements is a MUST, and happens BEHIND the far side of the shuttle run tape line.
The workout ends when the FF pair both cross the far side of the shuttle run tape line.
The workout is time capped at 18:00.
Movement Standards:
Synchronized Cluster -
- All individual standards apply.
- The synchronization of the rep will count when both athletes show control of the barbell locked out overhead at the same time.
- In the case of a NO rep from one athlete, the other athlete may wait at the end position of a rep to wait for the synchronization.
Synchronized Kipping Handstand Push Up -
- All individual standards from CrossFit OPEN apply.
- The synchronization of the rep will count when both athletes have their elbow locked out with feet on the wall at the same time.
In the case of a NO rep from one athlete, the other athlete may wait at the end position of a rep to wait for the synchronization.
Synchronized Strict Handstand Push Up -
- All standards from CrossFit OPEN apply.
- The synchronization of the rep will count when both athletes have their elbow locked out with feet on the wall at the same time.
In the case of a NO rep from one athlete, the other athlete may wait at the end position of a rep to wait for the synchronization.
Synchronized Wall Facing Strict Handstand Push Up -
- MM pair only. All the individual standards apply.
- Both athletes must start with a wall walk everytime he initiates the first rep. Athletes may come down the wall anyhow.
- Any part of the hand must in contact with the 30" tape line throughout a rep.
- The synchronization of the rep will count when both athletes have their elbow locked out with feet on the wall at the same time.

Workout Flow:
Team will begin the workout by standing in front of the tape line in front of the barbell. The barbell should be at MINIMUM of 2 Meters away from the gymnastics bar.
At the start of 3, 2, 1, go, any MF will proceed to the barbell and perform 6 pair deadlifts into hold. Once the hold is established, the other MF can perform 24 synchronized pull ups. MF can be swapped or interchange anyhow.
Every swapping of the teammate or failure to hold prior to the completion of current gymnastics movement will require team to re establish 6 pair deadlifts into hold to continue.
The team will repeat the same process for chest to bar. The team will repeat the same process for bar muscle ups.
After completion of the bar muscle ups, team will add weight of 20kg on the male side, and 15kg on the female side. Barbell clips are mandatory.
Team then will complete 30 any MF pair deadlifts anyhow.
The workout ends when the ALL teammates crossing the START LINE. Teams MUST show weights lifted prior or after the workout.
Movement Standards:
Pair Deadlift -
- Female Barbell is NOT allowed.
- All latest CrossFit OPEN standards apply. All individual standards apply.
- Both athletes need to show complete lock out at the top standing tall in a straight line from heads to toes.
- Team must add the weights by themselves without other assistance.
- Barbell clips ON is mandatory.
- Gymnastics grip is allowed. Straps are NOT allowed. Wrapping the bar using the gymnastics grips as straps is NOT allowed.
Pair Hold -
- Both athletes must be standing tall at the hold. Bending at the hip or the knees will result of that portion of gymnastics as NO reps.
- Pair is allowed to break between the deadlifts and the hold; however the gymnastics cannot start.
- Anytime the hold is dropped, 6 dealifts and hold will need to be re established to continue until the completion of the currently gymnastic movement.
Synchro Pull Up -
- All latest CrossFit OPEN standards apply. All individual standards apply.
- The rep is completed when both pair have their chin over the bar at the same time.
Synchro Chest to Bar Pull Up -
- All latest CrossFit OPEN standards apply. All individual standards apply.
- The rep is completed when both pair have their chest touching the bar at the same time.
Synchro Bar Muscle Up -
- All latest CrossFit OPEN standards apply. All individual standards apply.
- The rep is complete when both pair have their arms locked out supporting at the top and hands on the bar.
