WORKOUT 2 HAS BEEN RELEASED - Scores Accepted from 24th AugusT
ROW 555 SECONDS. (9MINS 15 SECONDS)
Score A is the TOTAL DISTANCE you can row in 555 seconds
Score B is the distance you can cover in the last 15 second split.
Prizes will be reflected by the number of entries.
First Place Positions will win a Medal in all finishing categories
If numbers allow, 2nd and 3rd place medals will be provided (Update - for this version of Row555, only 1st place medals will be sent)
(please see below for details of what the category metrics are)
All entrants will receive a certificate of participation (winners will recieve a winning certificate) The winning TEAM will also receive a certificate.
there will be a lottery draw from ALL entries.
Once again, the size and number of these prizes will be linked to the number of entries.
For every 30 entries, there will be 1 set of A/B/C lottery draws. (For instance, 240 entries = 8 sets of three draws) This '30' number will reduce with increased entrants
These A/B/C lottery prizes will be made out of the residual 'income' from the entry fees once running costs and winner's prizes have been taken off.
(These costs will be made available on request - this competition is being run for costs only with profits redistributed among participants)
A/B/C means that if there was £120 for one draw, the A prize would be £60, the B prize would be £40 and the C prize would be £20
At time of launch, this will take the form of Amazon vouchers. However, this is subject (and hopefully) to change.
Undere 19 and Under 16 prize winners will need consent from a parent or guardian before receiving the prize - via email. If consent is not received within 14 days, the prize will be re-drawn.
PRIZEGIVING
The winner's prizes will be sent out as soon as all the results have been verified.
The lottery draw will take place live on the Row555 Facebook page at 18:00UK Time on Saturday 19th September.

- No other makes of rowing machine will be allowed

- No Bike-Ergs

- Drag Factor is user choice - but once set, cannot be altered during the workout
The Workouts
There are 4 workouts, spread over a 4 week period. starting on 17th August 2020. The designs of the workouts will endeavour to keep them competitive and wide ranging, with some of them receiving two sets of scoring points.
For example: Row 5555m / Rest 55 seconds / Row 555m. - Score A is the total time (minus rest) to row the entire 6110m - Score B is the time to row just the 555m.
Workouts will be released the Saturday before, and score entries are open from 01:00 on the Monday morning, until 23:45 on the Sunday evening - UK Time.
As workouts will sometimes involve intervals with rest periods, THEY MUST be entered as described in the Workout Description or the score will be removed.
Where interval workouts are used, the first interval MUST ALWAYS be from a static flywheel. Further intervals can be from other a static, or moving flywheel.
Multiple attempts are allowed. Row the workout as many times as you need in the time period (Monday 01:00 to Sunday 23:45 UK Time) to get the best score you can)
Although not enforced, in the spirit of competition, it is encouraged that participants don't wait until the last minute to add an entry. It's understandable WHY this can seem attractive, but it isn't entirely within the spirit of competing with other rowers. But this is just a request.
Workout 1 has been released so you have an idea of what they will be:
THE CATEGORIES
Entries will be split by these metrics:
GENDER - Male / Female. (This is not designed to discriminate against non binary genders. It is the only way to make the categories work across the entire competition. With enough requests, this will change for the next competition)
WEIGHT - Heavyweight / Middleweight / Lightweight
- Lightweight Women: Under 135lbs (61.5kg)
- Middleweight Women: Between 135lbs and 160lbs (61.5 to 72.5kg)
- Heavyweight Women: Over 160lbs (72.5kg)
- Lightweight Men: Under 165lbs (75kg)
- Middleweight Men: Between 165lbs and 199lbs (75kg to 90Kg)
- Heavyweight Men: Over 199lbs (90kg)

COMBINATION OF CATEGORIES
It is hoped that entries will be enough to not need to combine categories. But if (for example) there is one entry in the Lightweight Male 60-64 and only one in the 65-69 too, or one in the middleweight and one in the heavyweight - they will both be asked if they would like to combine into one category in order to make the competition more competitive (the age group would become 60-69 in this instance).
This will be finalised after the end the first week of competition when registration closes. But you can also request before the start of the competition by emailing info@row555.com
PROOF of ROW / eligibility
In order to prove your results, a VIDEO may be reuqested. It isn't mandatory to UPLOAD the video at the score submission, but if the entered result is questioned, the event organiser will contact the entrant requesting video proof of the score (this is a suggested change to the initial rule here that required all entrants to upload a video)
- A three second video of your screen - then flip the camera to show your face (just to prove you are who you say you are).
- Record the entire row with your phone and upload (please move the camera at the end to show the final screen)
- Download the WODProof app - connect to your Concept 2 (PM5 only) (please move the camera at the end to show the final screen)
- Download the BOAT COACH app - connect to your Concept 2 (PM5 only) (please move the camera at the end to show the final screen)
It is important that you continue to keep a proof of your result, even if you don't intend to upload it - in case it is requested. If you are unable to take proof of one of your workouts - please email info@row555.com
PROOF OF LIGHTWEIGHT / MIDDLEWEIGHT STATUS
At the start of the competition - if you are a lightweight or middleweight, you will receive an email requesting a photograph of the display on a set of scales preferably alongside something with the current date on it.
CHEATING
Anyone found to be cheating will be ejected from the competition immediately, with no refunds and will be banned from future competitions.
If you suspect someone of cheating, please email your reasons (including proof) to info@row555.com
SOCIAL ROWING
Keep an eye on the https://www.facebook.com/row555 Facebook page for announcements about 'Zoom' rows that will be set up for rowers to take part in the workouts together.
As most of the workouts are intervals workouts - it isn't an option to row them on Digital Rowing.
All of the workouts can be found as they are released on the ErgZone app for iOS and Android. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ErgZone/ to join the Beta program to be allowed access to this app.
TRAINING
There are many training plans on the internet that will cater for this competition. Head to http://indoorrowinginfo.com/training-plans/ for a few suggestions.

If you would rather train by Rowing Along with an instructor - check out the RowAlong videos on YouTube which includes a 4 week training plan https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGYcAoZ9WTJriM9jZkXxoPg/videos

The A score is the total time to cover the 2775m (not including the rests)
Starting from a STATIC flywheel on the first interval. The other intervals can be from a rolling start or static - your choice.
You can have as many attempts as you like. But Score A and B must BOTH be from the same workout. You can not mix and match.
WEEK 1 = 555 BY 5 - "4 to the Floor"
Row 555m 5 times - with 55 seconds rest between each.
The B score is the time to cover the FOURTH 555m interval (not including rests)
STARTING FROM A STATIC FLYWHEEL ON THE FIRST INTERVAL. THE OTHER INTERVALS CAN BE FROM A ROLLING START OR STATIC - YOUR CHOICE.
You can have as many attempts as you like. But Score A and B must BOTH be from the same workout. You can not mix and match.
WEEK 2 = 555 SECONDS

Score A is the total distance you can row in one continuous 555 second row (9:15).
Starting from a STATIC Flywheel.
WEEK 2 = 555 SECONDS "The Fast last"
IMPORTANT - Set your monitor to 1 minute splits (See video below if you need help with this)
Score B is the distance you covered in the LAST 15 second split on your monitor
(Even though you've set your monitor to 1 minute splits, as it's a 9:15 row, the last one will just be 15 seconds rather than 1 minute - look at the distance you covered in that 25 seconds, and enter as score B)
WEEK 3 = 5000 + 555
Row 5000m - Set 30 seconds rest - Row 555m
The A score is the total time to cover the 5555m (not including the rests)
You can get a Maximum of 100 points for the A score
Starting from a STATIC flywheel on the first interval. The other intervals can be from a rolling start or static - your choice.
Now here's the twist - the leaderboard SCORE will be hidden ALL WEEK! You'll have no idea how you got on against your competitors until the week is over.
WEEK 3 = 5000 + 555
Row 5000m - Set 30 seconds rest - Row 555m
The B score is the time to cover the JUST the 555m (not including the rests)
You can get a Maximum of 50 points for the B score
PLEASE check that you are entering the ELAPSED TIME for the 555m - not the /500m split time!
WEEK 4 = 55 seconds on and off x 10
Week 4 workout is to row 10 x 55 seconds on and 55 seconds rest
