About This Competition

IRON COWBOY PARTNER SHOOTOUT 2022

Welcome to our annual comp the Iron Cowboy Partner Shootout. We are excited to get everyone back for a winter event this year, as our roots with this partner comp started in the winter months always in January before the OPEN.

We will continue to update the event as more information rolls out but here is what we know so far. 

 

- 1 day comp Saturday January 28th

- 4 workouts total 

- teams of 2 M/M or F/F pairs 

- Rx and scaled divisions

- workouts will be released periodically leading up to the event

COST: $180/team 

 

REFUND POLICY: NO REFUNDS AFTER DECEMBER 10th 2022 which is when registration closes due to costs going into athlete swag etc.

We will let you find a substitute in the event of one teammate being unable to make it. 

You can expect most workouts to be inside in a controlled climate, but we have workouts that very well could be done outside if the conditions are right. So please plan accordingly with colder weather months. aka bring some warm clothes, gloves, hats, etc as well.   

Recommend RX or SCALED based on the first workout announced. Overall we want to run a fun and safe event for everyone. 

You can expect most if not all movement standards held in Crossfit Open to hold true here.

Workouts

Each athlete will get 3 attempts. They will pick there opening weight and then tell the judges their next weight, just like a powerlifting or oly meet. We will then go in order based on the weights called. All levels RX and Scaled will go together on this. 

If you miss a rep you will not get another attempt. You will NOT be able to go back down in weight once a weight is called. So if you miss 200lbs you can't go below that on your next attempt so choose weights wisely. 

 

You and your teammates' weights will be combined for a total weight score. 

 

There are no tie breaks.

ERGonomics 

one Partner will spend half the time on the erg, one partner will spend half the time on the other piece of equipment accumulating max reps or cals. At the halfway point in the AMRAP, they will switch roles.

max KB hang power snatch (53/35)

1 min rest 

6 min AMRAP: 

max cal bike erg 

max kb box step overs ( 20'' box ( 53/35) 

1 min rest 

4 min AMRAP 

max cal row 

max sandbags over the bar ( 150/100 ) 

ERGonomics  SCALED

max DB hang power snatch (40/20)

1 min rest 

6 min AMRAP:

max DB box step overs ( 20'' box ( 40/20)

max sandbags over the bar ( 100/80 ) 

Float Tank: 

The floater workout will consist of multiple static holds. We will take your time from all holds and combine them with your partner's holds for a total accumulative time for a score. 

The workout will go like this: 

Max L sit hold on parallets ( scaled = knee tuck ) 

rest 1:00 from end time 

Max Handstand hold ( against the wall) ( scaled-plate overhead) 

rest 1:00 from end time 

Max Wheel hold ( 45/25 RX, 25/10 Scaled) 

rest 1:00 from end time 

max pipe hang 

 

 

Movement standards and explanation of each station will be explained in person at the day of the event.

500 M Row ( each partner on their own rower) 

20 Synchro Thrusters ( bar) 

10 synchro pull-ups 

RD2: 

500 M Row ( each partner on their own rower) 

15 Synchro Thrusters ( 75/55)

10 synchro Chest to bar pull-ups 

RD3: 

500 M Row ( each partner on their own rower) 

15 Synchro  Squat Clean Thrusters (95/65) 

10 synchro Bar muscle ups

 

Tie breaker time will be noted at the end of each set of thrusters.

20 Synchro Thrusters ( bar) 

10 synchro  Jumping C2B pull-ups 

RD2: 

500 M Row ( each partner on their own rower) 

15 Synchro Thrusters ( 65/55)

10 synchro Burpee Jumping Chest to bar

RD3: 

500 M Row ( each partner on their own rower) 

15 Synchro Thrusters (85/65) 

10 synchro pull ups

 

Tie break is time at end of each set of thusters
