About This Competition

Grinch and Grind is an annual holiday team competition. We have great workouts, a fun atmosphere, and lots of giveaways.

Bring your teammate and be ready to sweat, compete, and enjoy this one of a kind holiday competition.

At this competition you can expect good food vendors, clothing vendors, and the best DJ in the west.

Your team expectations are to be good sports, to have fun and to be expecting some challenging events along with a surprise floater event to be announced the day of the competition. The first event will be released on Monday October 30th @7pm, the other three will be released each week following the first event release.

T-shirts will be free for teams as long as you register on or before November 4th. Sign up pricing will increase if you register after this. Last day to register for the competition is November 25th.

Double DB DT - For Time 

You Go, I Go

8 minute Time Cap

 

10 Rounds

12 Deadlifts (RX 50/35)(INT 50/35)(Rookie 35/25)

9 Hang Cleans

6 Push Jerks

 

For this workout, one partner will begin the metcon by completing an entire round (12Deadlifts/9 Hang Cleans/6Push Jerks), then the other partner will begin and complete the next round. Partners will continute to alternate rounds until all 10 rounds are complete. The standard of movements will be full triple extension in every lift and that 1 head of each DB has to touch the ground on the deadlifts.

"The Grinch" - Compounding rounds (Shared) - for time

Scoring based on fastest time achieved. All reps are shared and split however the team feels best.

 

The standard for JUMPING Pullups will be as follows:

When fully extending your arms while standing straight up on the box, your wrists should be in line with the bar, you will then jump to perform a pullup by bringing the chin above the bar. Your chin must break the plane of the pullup bar.

“The Max” - Ladder

Partner 1: 1:00 -8:00 minutes

Partner 2: 8:01-16:00 minutes

*partners can help load/unload weight on barbell, judges will not! This is a "you go, I go" style. Partner 1 completes ladder and then finds max in the complex within the first 8 minutes, THEN, partner 2 starts from the beginning performing the same rep scheme and complex in the remaining 8 minutes.

 

Scoring: The combined weight of each partners heaviest successful lift of the complex plus the reps completed in the ladder. If teams are scoring the same in reps and weight lifted, the fastest combined time it took to complete the first half of the workout will be the tie break. 

 

Example: If partner one lifts 125 pounds and completes the entire ladder his or her score will be 125+155 reps. And if partner two does not complete the ladder but gets 124 reps then their final score will be 125+279 reps.
