This is a Team x 2 Workout so grab a partner and sign up! The Bert Fresh started as a memorial WOD in memory of Austin Ebertowski. He passed away unexpectedly June 14th, 2019 in Reno, NV. He was a CrossFitter at CrossFit Bangerang in Reno and his family are members at our gym, CrossFit Council Bluffs.
To our community this an event that represents the support that we all have of each other though difficult times. We all have experienced loss to some capacity. I don't think there is a greater loss than that of a son or daughter or even grandchild. In that loss our community has always rallied around those that are struggling and we will continue to do so, as this pain will never go away.
It is the people with this community that make this place special. Physical fitness is a phenomenal tool to make yourself a happy and healthier person but what means more is when you make connections that last a lifetime.
"The Bert Fresh"
25 minute AMRAP
451m Row
21 Thrusters 95/65
39 Hang Power Cleans 95/65
100m Run
In coordination with his family we have made a workout dedicated to him. He was notoriously known as "The Bert Fresh" which is the name of his workout. Austin was known for his talents on the football field. Setting many records locally and state wide. We used some numbers to represent his accomplishments. The 25 minutes represent the number of years he was with us. AMRAP for those that are not familiar means "As Many Reps As Possible". During his sophomore year he rushed for 451yd in one game, which is still one of the highest single game rushing totals in Iowa state history. The number he wore at Abraham Lincoln High School was 21. During his senior season he rushed for 39 touchdowns and the movement we paired with that number, Hang Power Cleans, is something he was very good at. At Abraham Lincoln High School he recorded a 5 rep max of 295lb. Lastly, he was the state of Iowa 100m dash champion his senior year, hand held time of 10.3.
