About This Competition

What is The Beasts of the East ?

The Beasts of the East is CrossFit Coogee 2034's innaugral in-house CrossFit Competition for same sex teams of 3. The competition is to kickstart our summer block of training. The goal is to have fun and introduce our membership base to the world of competing in the supportive community of the Coogee & Maoubra Crew

Categories

Same Sex Team of 3 (MMM or FFF)

Beginner (Female ONLY)

Intermediate

RX 

 

Movement Standards:

Beginner (Female ONLY)

We want EVERYONE to have the opportunity to compete, whether you are a first-timer or new to crossfit. 

This category will be ‘Scaled’ and will feature movements like the below examples:

Double Unders = Single skips
Toes to bar = Knee raises
Handstand press ups = Hand release push ups
Pull Ups = Jumping Pull Ups
Reduction in weight & increased time during the workouts

Intermediate

The category designed for those who don't quite fit the RX or Novice category we want you to have the opportunity to get involved also. You have been doing CrossFit for a few months but just have not been able to master the RX movements yet

The intermeditate category will feature RX movements with the option to scale them if needed too:

Pull Ups / Chest to bar / Muscle Ups = Jumping options
Reduction in weight during the workouts

RX

Athletes should be competent with all RX movements

 

NB FOR ALL CATEGORIES

This is a friendly competition. Taking part is what is important. Coaches descrition on your category is advised

All categories apart from RX can scale the workout as necessary but if the scaling option is not the one advised it may impact your score on the leaderboard. 

 

What are the workouts? 

There will be a total of 3 Workouts on the day. All workouts will be announced in person on the morning of October 28th

21 DB Push Press @ 22.5kg

15 Calorie Row

15 DB Front Squats @ 22.5kg

9 Calorie Row

9 DB Thrusters @ 22.5kg

 

Then, Partner 2 must complete:

3 Rounds of

50 Double Unders

10 Burpee over the Line

 

Then, Partner 3 must complete and finish the workout with an AMRAP of:

3 x 20m Shuttle Runs

1 x 20m Walking Lunge

 

Score is number of shuttle runs and walking lunge lengths

 

Intermediate Male & Female

Indian File (Partner 1 then, Partner 2, then Partner 3)

 

Partner 1 must complete:

21 Calorie Row

21 DB Push Press @ 15/10kg

15 Calorie Row

15 DB Front Squats @ 15/10kg

9 Calorie Row

9 DB Thrusters @ 15/10kg

 

 

 

Then, Partner 2 must complete:

3 Rounds of

50 Double Unders (they may scale to 100 Single Unders)

10 Burpee over the Line

 

Then, Partner 3 must complete and finish the workout with an AMRAP of:

3 x 20m Shuttle Runs

1 x 15m Walking Lunge

 

Score is number of shuttle runs and walking lunge lengths

 

Beginner Female

Indian File (Partner 1 then, Partner 2, then Partner 3)

18 Calorie Row

21 DB Push Press @ 7.5kg

13 Calorie Row

15 DB Front Squats @ 7.5kg

9 Calorie Row

7 DB Thrusters @ 7.5kg

 

Then, Partner 2 must complete:

75 Single Unders

8 Burpee over the Line

 

Then, Partner 3 must complete and finish the workout with an AMRAP of:

3 x 20m Shuttle Runs

1 x 10m Walking Lunge

 

Score is number of shuttle runs and walking lunge lengths

(Every Lunge Rep is worth 3 reps)
