We are excited to announce THE BOX THROWDOWN SAME SEX PAIRS COMPETITION at the Box Barnsley!
PRIZES FOR PODIUMS!
This competition for intermediate and scaled athletes only.
Our BOX THROWDOWN Same Sex Pairs is the perfect competition for athletes who are new to competing and athletes who would categorised themselves intemediate level!
INTERMEDIATE & SCALED MALE AND FEMALES PAIRS
Date: SATURDAY 5th APRIL 2025.
Location: UNIT C4, Shawfield Road, Barnsley, S71 3HS
Cost: The price per team is £80 + booking & processing fees.
Total price per team is £85.20. Tickets are non-refundable.

Movement Standards
All intermediate athletes should be able to do the following:
Intermediate Standards:
- Beginner to experienced
- Some open workouts scaled and some RX
- Can perform all basic CrossFit movements
Intermediate Gymnastics:
- Chest to Bar Pullups
- Toes to Bar
- Double Unders
- Walking Lunges weighted
Intermediate Barbell:
- Snatch 60/40
- Clean 60/40
- Deadlift 115/85
All Scaled athletes should be able to do the following:
Scaled Standards:
- Beginner, first time, or newer competitior
- Most open workouts scaled
- Can perform all basic Crossfit movements
- Able to run, row, bike, jump without injury
Scaled Gymnastics:
- Hanging Knee Tuck
- Box Jumps/Step Ups
- Wall Balls
- Single Unders
- Walking Lunges weighted
Scaled Barbell:
- Snatch 50/35
- Clean 50/35
- Deadlift 85/55

Workouts
EMOM 12:
Minute 1: 10 Synchro thrusters (One Barbell, One Dumbbell) & max burpees in remaining time.
Minute 2: 16/12 cal bike erg & max box jump overs.
Repeat this, alternating between the 2 minutes in EMOM style until you've done 6 of each, total of 12 minutes. The score is your total reps of burpees plus your total reps of box jump overs across the 12 minutes.
The thrusters will be synchro with 1 DB and one BB. The reps can be split/shared however you like, but must be synchro.
Single arm dumbbell thrusters must be performed, but swapping arms is permitted.
The calories on the machine and box overs can also be split however you want, with only 1 person working at a time.
If a pair doesn't finish the 10 synchro thrusters or 16/12 cal bike, their score will be reduced by 1 for every rep/calorie they missed.
INTERMEDIATE CATEGORY:
40/30kg Barbell
22.5/15kg Dumbbell (only 1)
Burpees are synchro.
Box jump overs only. Must step down. Height 24/20 inches.
SCALED CATEGORY:
30/20kg Barbell
15/10kg Dumbbell (only 1)
Burpees are split.
Box step overs only. Must step down. Height 24/20 inches.
Intermediate 4 mins TIME CAP:
Partner one: 30 GTOH 40/30kg then
Partner two: 30 GTOH @40/30kg
Scaled: 4 min TIME CAP:
60 Reps for time split anyhow.
Male weight: 40kg
Female Weight: 30kg
