About This Competition

Welcome to My First(ish) Throwdown VIII!


We are excited to be bringing back My First Throwdown for the 8th year, on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

This year we're tweaking things just a little bit. This event is designed for those who are new to CrossFit-style competitions. It's intended for those who have never have competed before, however, this year we're making an exception for those who perhaps have 1 or 2 throwdowns under their belt, but still consider themselves a rookie.

It doesn’t matter if you are in your first week of CrossFit or if you have been WOD'ing since the early days, this competition is for EVERYONE. All workouts will be designed such that nearly anybody will be able to do the movements.

Who Should Register:
Did the Open in the Scaled or Foundations Division

Scales most WODs

1-2 competitions in the Scaled Division

Who Should Not Register:

Did the Open Rx for all workouts

Does most WODs Rx

Previous competition in Rx Division

Registration for this event is limited to 25 males and 25 females.

Workouts

This workout has 2 separate scores. The first score will be for total meters rowed. The 2nd score will be for total reps of bumper plate ground to overhead and sit-ups.

With a 10:00 running clock

1:30 max meter row

Then, 7 minute AMRAP

3, 6, 9, etc….

Ab-mat sit-ups

Athlete will have :30 to complete a 3RM front squat from the rack. Each athlete will have 3 attempts with 2:30 between attempts.

To be announced at the start of the event.

11 min. AMRAP

50/35 Cal. bike

40 Russian Kettlebell Swings (53/35)

30 Box Jump Over (20"/16")

20 Shoulder to Overhead (95/65)

10 Burpees over the bar

Max Double Unders with remaining time*

*upon reaching 100 double unders, athletes will then move back up the ladder starting at burpees over the bar.

Top 5 men and top 5 women will compete for a winner takes all final. Scores are erased to 0 and the top 3 finishers will stand atop the podium.
