Battledrome Championship Final
About This Competition
1 THE COMPETITION: BATTLEDROME
Battledrome Championship (hereinafter BDC) is a competition that will hold its third edition in 2024, in Italy, and will take place at the sports facility Velodromo Vigorelli, located at Via Arona, 19, 20149 Milano MI. The organizer of the competition is the Battledrome Championship Committee based in Milan, Piazza Carlo Amati n.3, 20147. The competition will be held on Friday, September 6, Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8, 2024. To access the competition, it is necessary to pass a first phase of online qualifications. Once this phase is passed, access will be granted to the second part of the competition, which will take place live within the aforementioned facility.
2 ONLINE QUALIFICATIONS
In this event, access to the live phase is allowed only after passing the online qualifications. Two workouts will be released one week apart, and the score obtained from these two workouts will form the ranking from which athletes will be selected to participate in the live phase. The content of the WODs, movement standards, technical equipment specifications, judging method, and explanatory videos will constitute the technical sheets of the qualifying WODs and will be published on the competition's website, social channels, and via email links that will direct to the channel where the workout presentation video will be uploaded.
3 QUALIFYING WORKOUT REGULATIONS
All qualifying workouts must be performed and video-recorded according to the guidelines published within the technical sheets and uploaded to the reference platform www.competitioncorner.com. Videos uploaded on other social media or communication channels, even if they are part of the competition, will not be considered. Team athletes do not necessarily have to belong to the same Box or reside in the same city/country.
Qualifying trials must not be performed together. All workouts are structured so that individual team members can tackle them remotely and autonomously from each other. It will be the team leader's responsibility to finally upload all the videos of their respective team.
Modifying the qualifying workout is strictly prohibited and constitutes invalidation of the entire video proof. Therefore, varying the movement standard or altering the range of motion of an exercise is absolutely prohibited. Thus, any movement considered uncommon, unusual, or used to shorten or modify the prescribed movement will be penalized. It is solely and exclusively the athlete's responsibility to inform the competition organization of any functional limitations. The organization reserves the right to request any documentary evidence that the athlete must provide.
Additionally, the athlete is solely responsible for entering the scores of the qualifying WODs within the required timeframe, under penalty of elimination from the competition. Incomplete score entries, partial video uploads, and videos not conforming to what is required in the technical sheets will not be considered.
4 DEADLINES
The 1st WOD will be released on May 3, 2024, at 10:00, and the deadline to upload your video is no later than May 26, 2024, at 23:00.
The final deadline for registration in the competition will be May 18, 2024, at 23:00.
The 2nd WOD will be published on May 19, 2024, at 9:00, and the deadline to upload your video is no later than May 26, 2024, at 23:00.
Videos that do not comply with the announced times and dates will be automatically discarded. The organization reserves the right to modify the qualification deadlines.
5 PARTICIPATION FEES

6 DIVISIONS - CATEGORIES
The participating athletes are divided into the following categories:
SCALED: 32 male, 16 female
INTERMEDIATE: 48 male, 16 female
MASTER 35: 16 male
ELITE: 32 male, 16 female
TEAM SCALED (MMMF): 32 teams
TEAM INTERMEDIATE (MMMF): 16 teams
TEAM RX (MMMF): 16 teams
7 STANDARD FOR THE LIVE PHASE
7.1 ELITE
All movement skills and loads in line with European competition standards.
7.2 INTERMEDIATE
The Intermediate category, as specified, is also considered a category requiring all kinds of competition skills, considering a lower level of fitness in terms of rep numbers, sets, and workout duration. Refer to the elite table to check the comparison terms. Note: If an athlete does not possess an advanced skill (ring muscle up/handstand walk), they can still perform the workout through the corresponding scaled exercise provided by the competition organization. Their score will, therefore, be lower than that of someone who has completed even a single rep of the initially proposed exercise.
7.3 SCALED
The movement standards required for qualifying and live workouts will follow the official Open standards, primarily referring to the "scaled" category (not scaled master). Therefore, the exercise movements will be scaled to ensure ease of execution for those who have recently approached this discipline. However, pull-ups, knee raises, single-unders, and the ability to manage a ground-to-overhead of 50kg/35kg within a workout will still be required. There are no specific skill requirements for the final phase.
8 NON-ACCEPTANCE CLAUSE
The organization reserves the absolute and unappealable right to accept or reject an athlete's registration. Additionally, the competition organization reserves the exclusive right to validate or invalidate an athlete's scores.
9 WILD CARD – ACCEPTANCE CLAUSE
The event organizer reserves complete autonomy and discretion in inviting athletes who they believe can bring visibility and excitement to the competition.
10 ACCESS CRITERIA TO THE LIVE PHASE OF BATTLEDROME
To participate in the live phase of BDC, the athlete must adhere to the following points:
Have reached the age of 18 or, if a minor, have a signed waiver from parents or legal guardians.
Be aware of, have read, and accepted the regulations in their entirety, especially regarding liability waivers and the handling of personal data.
Register on the reference platform www.competitioncorner.it within the specified deadlines and pay the registration fee, which includes admission to the competition along with the competition kit.
Have a valid medical certificate of eligibility for competitive sports throughout the event duration (to be published on the website www.competitioncorner.it in the appropriate section).
Accept and comply with the national and regional regulations related to COVID-19 in force during the event period, including any modifications and/or integrations.
In case of advancing past the online phases, the athlete will receive a participation email that must be confirmed. If the athlete has progressed past the online phases but is no longer able to participate in the event or does not confirm the participation email, they will be automatically disqualified, and a requalification will be based on the score. Hence, the ranking should be considered provisional until all participants have confirmed their participation.
Not be subject to precautionary suspension measures from sports activities or any sanctions issued by national and international sports authorities. Failure to disclose such situations to the competition organization grants the latter the right to legally protect itself in any jurisdiction.
Be aware that the organizer will conduct due checks and may exclude the participant without providing any refund.
Be aware that after paying the registration fee for both the qualifiers and access to the final, no refund will be possible.
Not have been subject to exclusion from competitions managed by Project Judge during the current year 2024.
11 REFUND AND TRANSFERS
It will not be possible for any reason, except for serious fault on the part of the competition organization, to receive a refund after payment of the registration fee for access to the final. In the event of the event's suspension due to epidemiological reasons, it will be possible to receive a voucher valid for registration in the following year's event in compliance with current regulations.
Once a team is registered for Battledrome Championship, they may substitute one athlete for free up to the Online Qualifier closing on May 19, 2024. After this date, any substitution will have a fee of 20€, changes and applicable fees will have to be made by the captain through Competition Corner. If any changes are made after the finalization of the Online Qualifier, the Team accepts that printed materials, apparel sizes and/or some digital announcements may not be able to be changed in time.
Please note, that only ONE athlete per team may be substituted for free. Once your one free substitution has been made, your team will need to pay 20€ for every further substitution.
All substitutions must be made via Competition Corner.
12 MEMBERSHIP DEADLINES
To participate in the event, the athlete confirms through their registration that they fully agree with the rules and guidelines outlined in this rulebook.
13 CHECK-IN
Date, location, logistical information will be communicated through the event's social pages and the related website. Athletes must mandatorily check-in according to the communications provided through the aforementioned channels in the specified ways and times, providing the documentation requested.
14 LIVE PHASE WORKOUTS
The competition organizer will produce a brochure for each competition workout. The brochure will specify the workout, standards, and flow for each workout. The competition organizer may also reserve the right not to produce informational material regarding the workouts but to conduct an on-site briefing. In this case, participating in the briefing is mandatory. If a pre-race briefing is to be held, it will be communicated through social channels and conducted in both Italian and English languages.
14.1 THE RANKING
Each result achieved in a workout will receive an assessment that will determine a relative rank, contributing to the final leaderboard. In the case of tied positions, the best placement obtained across all workouts will be used. Ties are not considered concerning individual workouts but solely for the final ranking. If perfect parity persists even after evaluating the best placements, the final test's placement will be considered.
14.2 SCORING
The result achieved in the individual workout will be validated by the judge. Any observations regarding the validation of the workout must be strictly communicated within the competition day in which the disputed workout took place. In case of dispute on the last competition day, it will be considered until the final rankings are published. Once the rankings of the athletes accessing the final are published, no disputes will be allowed.
If chips are used to record the workout time, that measurement will be considered official. The chip will be worn by all athletes in the same body part. The only accepted video evidence is that provided directly by the event organization where possible.
15 BEHAVIORAL RULES
Each athlete agrees to compete sportingly, rejecting any possible unsporting behavior. They also agree not to engage in offensive behavior or, worse, violent actions towards judges, volunteers, other athletes, spectators, or sponsors. Any behavior violating the aforementioned commitment results in disqualification from the competition.
Each athlete commits to perform the workout without altering its nature, engaging in fair and sportsmanlike competition, free from tricks or cheating of any kind. Any behavior considered or identified as intentional will result in disqualification. This list is purely explanatory and not exhaustive. Any behavior violating an expressed call for sportsmanlike and proper conduct by the head judge or event organizer, respectful of the competition environment and the involved individuals, will be penalized with disqualification.
16 ACCESS TO THE COMPETITION FIELD AND WARM-UP AREA
Access to the competition field and warm-up area is allowed only to athletes, judges, volunteers, and the organization. In compliance with COVID regulations and protocols, only one coach per athlete will be allowed in the warm-up area.
17 INJURY
If an athlete requires or needs medical assistance during the workout, they must obtain medical clearance to continue in the competition. It is the authority of the doctor, head judge, or competition director to remove an injured athlete from the competition. In the event of an injury to a team member, the team can continue the workout only for the part involving movements according to the required standard and flow.
18 PRIZES
Winners of the Elite categories will receive the Battledrome Championship belt as a prize. Belt holders are required to defend the belt in the following edition of the event.
The belt holder is prohibited from putting the belt at stake in any other event, competition, or private function.
