About This Competition
BEGINNER'S BASH Fitness Competition 2023
Saturday 2nd September 2023 at Crossfit 505 Burpengary.
Same Sex or Mixed Pairs Competition for SCALED and BEGINNER Fitness athletes.
** SCALED/BEGINNER means any of the following:
- Haven't ever competed in a competition before
- Have only been partaking in CrossFit or Fitness training for 12 months (or less)
- Have been training for longer than 12 months, but are unable to complete MOST workouts at an RX level
If you have the desire to compete, but don't have RX loads and skills just yet, this is the competition for you!

Format and Details:
MM/MF/FF Pairs
Only ONE DIVISION - workouts and movement standards to be released prior to the competition.
Registration: $100 per pair + processing fee
Registration closes 2pm Wednesday 30th August.
Workouts/Schedule:
TIME: 9am to 3pm (approx).
FIRST HEAT STARTS: 9:30am

Prizes:
1st, 2nd and 3rd placed pairs in all Divisions will receive prize packs!
Policies:
REFUNDS - Cancellations of registration will not be refunded - substitutions of pair members are advised in this situation.
SUBSTITUTES - Pair member changes can be made until Mon 28th August on a case-by-case basis, however there will be no refunds for cancellations. Please email us to advise if a pair member change is required.
WAIVER - All athletes must complete the Beginner's Bash waiver prior to competing. Please have all team members complete this prior to attending and competing.
FAQ's:
What should I bring?
Additional to all of your regular gear that you would need to compete with (eg: skipping rope, wrist wraps, towel, food etc), you are welcome to bring chairs and gazebo's. These can be set up in the sectioned off area of our car park (see site map on the facebook event page).
Will there be food/drinks at the event?
We are only offering beverages from our fridge and esky's on the day. FitAid, Water and Gatorades are available to purchase. Please ensure you bring plenty of your own food to stay fuelled for the day.
Where do I park?
See the site map for the best places to park for the event. There will be very limited parking available in the gym complex, but there is plenty of parking at the local Supermarket across the road. Parking in any other designated areas outside of our recommendations will run the risk of being towed.

Workouts
For time (10min CAP):
Athlete 1 completes
8 x shuttle runs
50 Deadlifts at 40/25kg
25 Wallballs 14/8lb
then
Athlete 2 completes
8 x shuttle runs
50 Wallballs 14/8lb
25 Deadlifts 70/45kg
1min transition into Workout 1b
After completing Workout 1A, 8mins to find a max weight for the complex:
3 Deadlifts
2 Cleans
1 S2OH
** Complex must be completed without letting go of the barbell, or resting it on the ground.
** Power or Squat clean (or a combination of both) is allowed.
** S2OH can be any of the following: Push Press, Push Jerk or Split Jerk
** Both athletes can attempt the complex as many times as they wish during the 8min window
Every 90s x 6 rounds:
One athlete completes
10/7cal Echo bike
10 DB box step overs 10/7kg
Max DB Hang Snatches
*score is total reps of DB Hang Snatches over the 6 rounds
** Athletes alternate rounds, completing three rounds each.
** Two DBs are used for box step overs, one DB for hang snatches
FOR TIME (15min CAP):
10 Synchro Burpees over Bar
10 Shoulder to overhead 40/30kg (each)
15 Synchro Burpees over Bar
15 Shoulder to overhead 40/30kg (each)
20 Synchro Burpees over Bar
20 Shoulder to overhead 40/30kg (each)
**Synchro Burpees over Bar: Chest of both athletes on the floor at the same time, and a jump or a step over the bar is permitted.
** Shoulder to overhead: Each athlete must complete ALL of their reps before moving on. I.e. One athlete must complete all 10 of their shoulder to overheads in the first round before the other athlete can complete their 10 reps. Strict press, push press, push jerk or split jerk is permitted.
