Welcome to the GRIT FITNESS FESTIVAL!

2020 GRIT FITNESS FESTIVAL is a festival of sporting events for all fitness levels.

SATURDAY March 7th

 Intermediate 4-person male

Intermediate 4-person female

(movements and weights will be programmed similiar to the OPEN workouts)

(These divisions are for those athletes that scale workouts on a regular basis. These athletes are new to the sport of fitness, first time competitors, have limitations that keep them form competiting at a higher level or they just want to have some competitive fun with their friends. The load, skill level and volume will be scaled so all athletes will be able to participate. Most workouts will allow teams to partition the work as needed.)

 

OCR GRIT MILE

Individual Male and Female divisions: Individual Men and Women will run against the clock for 1-mile while negotiating various obstacles and performing various exercises. Top 5 time in each division will race through the mile course a second time to determine a winner.

 

SUNDAY MARCH 8th

RX:  2-person male

RX: 2-person female

(Movements and weights will be programmed similiar to the OPEN)

GENERATIONS GRIT: 

4-person COED team made of 1 person from each age group: 35-39, 40-44, 45-49 and 50 plus. Teams MUST have at least 1 person from the opposite sex. (3 males/1 female, 3 female/1 male or 2 males/2 females) *You may use an OLDER athlete in a YOUNGER age group.

*** July 14th, 2020 is the cut-off date to determine which age group you qualify for. 

KID GRIT:

Individual competition: 8-10 y.o. and 11-13 y.o.

Divisions based on age. Boys and girls will compete against each other. 

TEEN GRIT:

Individual competition: Boys 14-15 y.o., Girls 14-15 y.o., Boys 15-16 y.o., Girls 15-16 y.o.

SUBSTITUTIONS: You will be allowed to substitute team members any time prior to event day. Please email us the name of the person you are substituing.  Keep in mind the substitute will receive the t-shirt size that was originally ordered.

At the 9:00 mark, all athletes will have 6:00 to find a 1RM Front Squat from the floor. Power Clean to FS is acceptable as is a Squat Clean.

Athletes will have 5:00 to get as many reps as possible.

Beginning with 5 Front Squats (8-10 will use 10# dumbbells, one in each hand.  11-13 will use a 15# barbell).  After the completion of 5 Front Squats, athletes will advance to their Ab Mat or to the Rig and complete 10 Sit Ups (8-10) / 10 Knee Raises (11-13).

They will return to their bar to then complete 10 Front Squats.  All sets of Front Squats must be unbroken - the dumbbells or barbell must remain at or above their collarbone.

If the dumbbells or barbell is lowered before the completion of all of the reps of that set, they will begin BACK AT 0 for that set.

There are 2 score for this event.

Pt1 is FOR TIME. Completing the front squat ladder 10-2 with 10-8-6-4-2 toes to bar/heels up after each set of front squats.

Pt2 is for LOAD.  Maximum weight lifted for a 1 rep max front squat, from the floor in the timeframe from 9:00 to 15:00.

Pt1 has a 9:00 time cap, if all 60 reps are not completed by the cap, the athlete will recieve a penalty of :01 per uncompleted rep for their score. 

All athletes (14-16) will begin lifting at the 9:00 mark.  If all 60 reps are completed prior to the 9:00 mark athletes will get to rest and load their bar to their first lift and begin lifting at 9:00 until 15:00.

14-15:

Front Squat: Ascending Ladder, from the floor

At the 9:00 mark, find a 1RM FS until 15:00

For time, with a 9:00 cap.

Find a 1RM FS at the 9:00 mark until 15:00.

(from floor, squat clean/pc+fs)

 

Beginning at their barbell, they will complete 10 reps at the first weight (these reps do NOT need to unbroken).  After completing all 10 reps, they will advance to the rig to complete 10 heels above hip knee-raise (14-15) / 10 toes to bar (16-17) before returning back to the barbell.

They will need to load up their next weight (clips must always be on the barbell once weight is loaded) and complete the next set of 8 front squats, then complete their 8 reps on the rig.

After the completion of the full ladder, finishing with 2 front squats and 2 toes to bar/heels up, they will receive a score for their time to completion.  There is a 9:00 time cap and athletes will recieve a :01 penalty for each incomplete rep.

At the 9:00 mark, all athletes will begin lifting to find a 1RM Front Squat (from the floor).  They will have 6:00 total to find a 1RM.
