There is an exception to this rule, female pairs are allowed however one female will have to complete the male portion of the workout. There are no separate divisions, therefore a F/F team will be scored against M/F teams.

JUDGING.
Each team will need to supply one judge to judge over the two-day competition. If neither of you feel comfortable, please contact us prior to the competition and we will make alternative arrangements.

DIVISIONS AND MOVEMENT STANDARDS.
Please refer to the Division tab & movement standards upon registration.
The movement standards are CrossFitHQ standards. Please have a good understanding of these before the event.

TEAM CHECK-IN + ATHLETE PACKS.
Teams are strongly encouraged to check in & collect their Athlete Packs at UNITE Fitness the day before the competition begins. If you are unable to check-in on the Friday evening, it is possible to make alternative arrangements to check in prior to the first event on Saturday morning. Only one team member is required to check in the team – ideally they would be your nominated team captain.

ATHLETE BRIEFINGS.
RIVAL in the North workouts will be kept secret until the day before the event, meaning that we must train for the unknown and be ready for anything.
Each workout (including a video with movement standards/athlete brief) will be released via our social media accounts, both Facebook and Instagram. Athletes must make sure that they understand what is required and how the events are scored. There will only be a brief allocated time for any questions prior to the event.
We cannot answer any questions prior to the competition, including whether everyone in the team has to swim and how far, will both athletes be required to do muscle ups (RX) or or how heavy the weights are, etc.

ATHLETE CONDUCT.
RIVAL in the North is a safe and positive space for everyone to come and express their fitness, regardless of their background, beliefs or ability. It is an inclusive and friendly event and, most of all, we want all our participants to have a fun weekend. We expect all our athletes to behave and compete in a sportsmanlike manner.
Unsportsmanlike behaviour, such as arguing with RIVAL in the North staff, non-compliance with a judge’s instructions, bickering with or questioning of a judge or staff, any unpleasant or threatening behaviour towards a judge, member of staff, sponsor, spectator, other athlete or venue operator or owner, as determined by RIVAL in the North, in its sole and absolute discretion, may result in a disqualification of the athlete from the competition and/or future competitions. This includes derogatory comments from an athlete or their coach, representative, teammate(s), supporters, guests or entourage. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying and abusive behaviour or comments either at the competition or online on our social media channels.
All athletes will be held accountable for the behaviour of their entire team, including supporters, coaches and guests. We do not take decisions to disqualify a team lightly. Our community is supportive, kind and fair and we want it to stay that way!

STAY UP TO DATE.
All information will be posted to our socials, so please make sure you either follow us on:
Facebook or Instagram.
We also have an event on Facebook > RIVAL IN THE NORTH 2022, so if you haven’t already, please head over and select ‘Going’ to stay informed.

Workouts

Workout Flow:

Athletes will begin with ONE hand on the wall.

On 3, 2, 1, go, Athletes are to advance forward to the machines and complete the required distances for their division. If one Athlete finishes the required meters first, they MUST remain on their machine until the other Athlete completes their required meters and the judge gives both Athletes the 'OK' to advance forward to their barbell.

Athletes will then advance to their barbell to complete their first set of 21 Synchronised Thrusters. Once complete, ONE athlete is to step over their barbell (to ensure Athletes are on the same side of their barbells) and both Athletes are required to complete their first set of 15 Synchronised Lateral Burpees over Bar.

Once complete, Athletes are to return to the machines. Athletes MUST alternate machines, therefore the Athlete that started on the Echo Bike, is now required to Row, visa versa. As above, both Athletes must remain on their machine until both Athletes have completed the required meters.

Once both Athletes have completed the required distance for their division, Athletes are to advance back to their barbell and complete their last set of 15 Synchronised Lateral Burpees over Bar, ensuring they are on the same side of their barbells. Athletes will then return to facing each other & complete their last set of 21 Synchronised Thrusters.

Athletes will return to the machines for the final time, once again alternating- the Athlete that started on the Echo Bike and completed the Row in the middle, will now finish on the Echo Bike, visa versa.

TIME is achieved once both Athletes have completed the required meters.

Workout Flow:

On 3, 2, 1, go, Athletes will commence the 21 Snychonised Deadlifts. Once complete, both Athletes will advance to the Pull Up Rig and Wall. One Athlete will commence the Dead Hang off the rig, while the other Athlete commences the first set of 21 HSPU. Once all 21 HSPU are complete, Athletes will swap. The Athlete which just finished the HSPUs will now Dead Hang off the rig while the other Athlete which just finished the Dead Hang commences their first set of 21 HSPU.

Once the second set of 21 HSPU are complete, Athletes will then advance back to their barbell for their set of 15 Synchronised Deadlifts. Again, once the 15 Synchronised Deadlifts have been completed, both Athletes will complete a set of 15 HSPU each as well as the Dead Hang off the rig. This will continue to be repeated until Athletes finish the set of 9 Synchronised Deadlifts, 9 HPSU each and the Dead Hang.

TIME is achieved when the final repetition of the second Athlete's 9th HSPU is completed.

*Scaled Division: Same workout flow, however Double DB Push Press instead of HSPU.

Workout Flow:

On 3, 2, 1, go, both Athletes will proceed to Station 1 as directed. At Station 1, when both Athletes arrive, Athletes will complete the shared calories on the Echo Bike- Athletes can alternate as much as they like. Once the calories are completed and checked by the head judge, Athletes can proceed to Station 2.

At Station 2, Athletes will choose a workout station that is free and commence the 50 Synchronised Alternating DB Snatches. Once reps are completed, both Athletes are to proceed to Station 3, via Duck Reach Power Station & the Stairs, towards the Hoo Hoo Hut.

At Station 3, Athletes will choose a Copper Log and complete the 25m OH Walking Lunge up & back. Copper logs must be returned to the starting position, then both Athletes are to complete a 50m Sprint to the finish line. Once both Athletes have crossed, TIME will be achieved.

*Intermediate Athletes: 50m Front Rack Walking Lunge with Copper Log.

Workout Flow:

On 3, 2, 1, go, the first Athlete will commence the required repetitions for their division of Burpee Over / Burpee Unders, then move onto the Rower to complete the required calories set for their division.

This event is 'you go, I go', therefore once the first Athlete completes one (1) full round, the other Athlete will commence and complete a full round of Burpee Over + Burpee Unders and Calories on the rower (Round 2).

Each Athlete is required to complete 2 Rounds each before TIME is achieved. Athletes will then rest until 8:00 minutes before moving onto Part B.

Workout Flow:

Part B will commence at 8:00 minutes for all Athletes and Athletes will have 6:00 minutes to find a Max Lift for the barbell complex programmed for their division. [ Total time 14:00mins. ]

Athletes will have access to the following weight plates: 25kg; 20kg; 15kg; 10kg; 5kg; 2.5kg; and 1.25kg.
Barbells will NOT be preloaded. Athletes can assist each other with loading barbells and collars MUST be used.

Only one athlete can lift at a time for safety & judging. There is no limit on how many lifts an Athlete can attempt.

Workout Flow:

On 3, 2, 1, go, the first Athlete will commence the Wall Balls- repetitions throught the workout can be partioned how the team choose, there is no minimum work requirement. Once the team accumulates the total repetitions of wall balls required for their division, Athletes can advance to the Toes to Bar (Scaled- Knee Raises).

Only one Athlete can be working at any given time, and there is no requirement to tag when transitioning between Athletes.
