About This Event

Veterans nonprofit Pancakes For Roger is teaming up with Dutch Kills Fitness for an awesome day of friendly competition to support Veteran's empowerment initiatives on June 14, 2025.

75 bucks gets each competitor an entry ticket into one of our divisions, a sweet tee shirt (or optional tank for women), other cool swag, and a chance at prizes for winning first, second, or third place!  🥇🥈🥉

The competition consisits of three workouts.  We'll release the workouts on Friday, May 30 at 4:15pm.  You're gonna love it, Dragon Slayer! 🐲

Pancakes for Roger, Inc. is a not-for-profit dedicated to serving those who have served our nation by forging connections and providing opportunities to address the unique challenges facing Veterans during and after their service. 

Nitty Gritty

  • Individuals only, no teams (this time)
  • 1 entry per person
  • Individuals over 16 only
  • No pets please (we love them, but we don't want them getting injured!)
  • No refunds, no substitutions

* Due to the shirt ordering process, we will work hard to meet your sizing request but it's not guaranteed if you register after May 23rd.

Workouts

Major General Roger Combs was born on February 22, 1945...an auspicious date and number!  The Colt M1911 (also known as the Colt .45) is a semi-automatic pistol chambered primarily for the .45 ACP cartridge, favored by all military branches for its hard hitting firepower, absolute reliability, and overall toughness in combat operations.  The Purple Foxes - including Roger Combs - were armed with this sidearm as they flew combat missions in Vietnam.

ATHLETES: you will perform a Power Clean Ladder + Finisher Deadlift (Max Effort):

Each athlete has 4 minutes to ascend the ladder until completed or failure.

At completion or failure, the competitor will Deadlift the last successful weight until the clock runs out:

Powerclean Ladder:

  • Men RX: 165 / 185 / 205 / 225 / 245
  • Men Scaled: 115 / 135 / 165 / 185 / 205
  • Womens RX: 115 / 125 / 140 / 155 / 170
  • Womens Scaled: 65 / 75 / 85 / 95 / 105

Tie Break: AMRAP Deadlift scored at final successful lift 😎

Some History...
Major General Roger E. Combs served a tour of duty in Vietnam as a CH-46 combat helicopter pilot with The Purple Foxes in the Republic of Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. During its three tours there, the squadron's pilots and crewmen flew almost 70,000 hours in combat support missions, and upon mission completion the squadron was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for meritorious conduct in the performance of duty.

ATHLETES - you will complete 5 Rounds of each of these movements:

250 Meter Row

10 Back Squats:

  • Mens RX:165
  • Womens RX: 115
  • Mens Scaled: 115
  • Womens Scaled: 65

All reps are judged from the floor.

ATHLETES - you will complete a series of exercises in order, each with a set number of repetitions, before moving on to the next exercise:

Rx Division to Perform the Following:

  • 25 Burpee Pull-ups
  • 50 Burpee Box Jump Overs (24 inches for Men / 20 inches for Women)
  • 50 Dumbbell Push Press (50# for Men / 35# for Women)

Scaled Division to Perform the Following:

  • 25 Burpee to Plate (That's right kids, you do a burpee and jump onto a plate for each rep)
  • 50 Box Step Overs (24 inches for Men / 20 inches for Women)
  • 50 Dumbbell Push Press (35# for Men / 20# for Women
