About This Competition

 Join us at Saddle Up CrossFit as we kick off our innagural JVB Memorial Youth competition. This is an Individual Youth CrossFit Competition for ages 6-16 years of age.We are located 4 miles South of Decatur, Tx on 55 acres of ranchland so this is not your normal comp! The workouts will be age group appropriate and will be available to be scaled if needed. So whether you've competed before or this is your first time we welcome all levels of youth. Spots will be limited to the first 50 that register and there is an early bird discount of 15% available until May 1st. Registration deadline is May 19th to guarentee T-shirt. 

Division break down: 15-16 yo, 13-14yo, 11-12 yo, 9-10 yo, 6-8 yo ( age as of competition day)

Competition will be 5 scored events, one of which will be a floater wod to be performed at the athletes discretion. 

We have some awesome unique custom prizes for the Podium Winners as well. 

 Refund Policy: No refunds will be issued for any reason (other than event cancellation). If you are unable to compete for any reason, you may find a substitute to transfer your position to in the same division.

* Athletes may do any combo of the 3 gymanastics movements to accumaulate reps/points:

Each Bar Muscle Up is worth 5 points

Each Chest to Bar is worth 2 points

Box Jump/Get Overs

**Athletes performing Box Jump Overs must have a 2 feet take off but may face any direction and 2 feet MUST touch top the top of the box. Jumping completley over the box will not be permitted, a step down is required.**

*** Athletes performing the Box Get Overs, in the younger age groups, can use their hands to assist in getting over the box, however 2 feet must touch the top of the box.

 

 

 

 

"Wild West Showdown"

For ages: 15-16/13-14/11-12

5 Sets x 1:30

*Establish a heavy for the following Complex:

1 Clean + 2 Front Squats

* Athletes will have 5 windows each 1:30 to complete 1 Clean + 2 Front Squats.

* Athletes may have 1 coach or parent help change weights (and do math) if needed. 

* Athletes will get 2 attempts within the window at the weight loaded, if needed. It is considered an attempt once the barbell has left the floor. For Example: If the athlete has a successful clean but fails the first front squat, that is one attempt. They may attempt the clean again and then the front squats for a second attempt. All movements of the complex must be completed before the 1:30 window expires for the complex to count. Once the athlete has completed a succesful complex they may add weight for the next window and rest until it begins. Only one weight per window is allowed.

* Athletes may use any style of clean and a squat clean will count as the first rep of the Front Squat as long as the athlete's hip crease is below the top of the knee (below parallel). Anything above parallel is considered a power clean therefor the athlete would still need to complete 2 Front Squats. 

 

"Wild West Showdown"

For ages: 9-10/6-8

Tabata Thrusters

4:00/ 20 seconds of work/10 seconds of rest

* Athletes will complete an AMRAP of Single Dumbbell Thrusters at the weight of their choosing by working for 20 seconds on and 10 seconds off format and accumulate thrusters across the 4:00. The score for this workout will be total reps completed x the dummbbell weight the athlete chooses. For Example: If the athlete completes 20 Thrusters with a 25# Dumbbell their score would be 500. Athlete with the highest total wins.

"Saddle Up and Grind"

* This is a Floater Wod to be performed at the athletes discretion.

* This is a scored event to make 5 total scored events
