The Backland Games 2025
About This Competition
Join us for the second year of The Backland Games (August 23 & 24, 2025), hosted by CrossFit Backland, in partnership with HillerFit. This is a two day competition, including one outdoor field day (near Downers Grove, IL) and one indoor day (at CrossFit Backland in Downers Grove, IL). This is unlike other events out there and will be an awesome opportunity to test your fitness in a competitive, fun environment. Did someone say trail run & sandbags?
Two Days:
- Outdoor field day (August 23: ~8:00am - 3:00pm)
- Indoor day (August 24: ~8:00am - 3:00pm)
Two Divisions:
- Elite Male/Female
- RX Male/Female
High Quality Judging:
- Paid Judges
ELITE DIVISION PODIUM PRIZES
- 1st place (M/F): $3,000
- 2nd place (M/F): $2,000
- 3rd place (M/F): $1,000
- 4th & 5th place Elite teams will receive podium prize swag bags
RX DIVISION PODIUM PRIZES
- 1st place (M/F): $500 & awesome swag bags
- 2nd place (M/F): $300 & awesome swag bags
- 3rd place (M/F): $100 & awesome swag bags

3 Rounds:
1000m Trail Run (Together)
20-30-40 Synchro Feedsack Squats (70/50)
-- Directly into --
1000m Trail Run with Feedsacks (70/50) (Together)
FLOW:
- Partners complete a 1000m trail run together
- Return and complete 20 synchro feedsack squats
- Run 1000m together, then 30 synchro squats
- Run 1000m together, then 40 synchro squats
- Both partners take feedsacks and complete final 1000m feedsack run together to finish
Note: Elite and Rx are the same workout/weights

FLOW:
- A1 completes DB snatch
- Once complete, A2 begins DB snatch, while A1 begins ski cals
- Once A2 completes DB snatch, athletes split ski cals as desired
- Once complete, A1 & A2 perform synchro dual DB snatch
RX Version
For Time:

FLOW:
- Partner 1 completes the calorie buy-in, and then will begin completing the HSPU chipper.
- Once the 2-min interval is complete, partner 2 will begin their calorie buy-in and continue the chipper where the non-working partner left off.
- Partners will continue until all reps are completed, or until 16-min time cap has elapsed.
RX Version:

FLOW:
Partner 1 completes the calorie buy-in, and then will begin completing the HSPU chipper.
Once the 2-min interval is complete, partner 2 will begin their calorie buy-in and continue the chipper where the non-working partner left off.
Partners will continue until all reps are completed, or until 16-min time cap has elapsed.
