We are excited to be back at Blackpool Sands Devon again for 2025! An event like no other on the calendar! Come with your extended tribe and experience a unique test of your fitness, in a stunning location!
TEAM COMPETITION
Tribal Clash is a two-day competition for teams of 6 athletes, 3 men + 3 women.
Teams will engage in exciting, timed events over two action-packed days on a purpose-built beach arena, creating an inclusive atmosphere suitable for all. The element of surprise keeps them on their toes, motivating them to prepare for the unexpected, pushing their limits in fitness, strength, teamwork, and determination. Adaptability is the key to success in this dynamic competition, where no barbell or high-skilled gymnastics elements make it accessible to participants of all levels. The events in the past have included shifting, climbing, lifting, running, swimming, hauling, pulling, carrying and throwing.

No divisions JUST ONE TRIBE! Workouts are carefully programmed to be accessible but challenging for all abilities.

Saturday 30th August - 8.30 -17:30
Sunday 31st August - 8:30 - 17:30 then... Afterparty 18:00 -22:00

HOW TO BUY YOUR TEAM
When team entry goes live, all you need to do is buy your team. It isn't required that you know, or link all 6 athletes to the team upon purchase. You will need to give a team a name - don't worry - this can be changed up until 6 weeks before the competition, (Don't Forget!)
Can I buy multiple teams? Short answer is YES! However, you can only buy one team per account on Team Aretas. So if you want to buy multiple teams you either need multiple accounts on Team Aretas (different email address), or have some friends/members purchase the other teams.

Workouts
EVENT 1: 'LOG RAFT'
Format: Squats (3's) swim (6)
Time: 20 min cap
Location: Shoreline arena
3 Rounds for time
50 x Zercher log squats (3)
1 x Rescue raft swim lap (6)
Flow: 3,2,1....Go!
3x Athletes will pick up their XL log and Zercher squat to 50 reps. Once 50 reps is complete the entire team will pick their rescue raft up and head to the water through the green start flags at the water. They will head around the buoys and back through the red flags and finally back to their log where they can start on the 2nd round of 50 Zercher squats. After the second 50 squats another swim lap is completed and so on until 3 rounds are complete.
Score is time to complete the work
**Note: Athletes can swap at any time and in any way as long as 3 athletes are on the log.
EVENT 2: 'WORM FUN'
Time: 15mins
Format: Full Team

AMRAP ROPE CLIMBS (1)
3,2,1...Go!
Teams will start chests on the sand DJ side of the lane. On Go, they will Lunge the worm together to the other end of the lane (20m). The team can then start on their 30 Worm STOH. Following completion of the 30 reps, teams will advance to the climbing rope and with 1 athlete working at a time complete 6 rope climbs. Teams head back to the worm to lunge for another 20m length and a further 30 STOH. This time 12 rope climbs to be completed before coming back through movements of the chipper. If teams complete the final 20m Worm Lunge they will then AMRAP rope climbs in the remaining time.
Score is the total reps accumulated in the 15 mins.
**Note:
- There is no requirement for every athlete to be able to do a rope climb the team can share however they wish.
- Lunge length is counted as 2 reps, 1 rep awarded for the front person passing the rope at the centre of the lane.
EVENT 3: 'DRAG REDEMPTION'
Time: 10mins
Format: In Pairs
Location: Main Arena
Pair 1: Shield carry & load + 1 x lengths drag + 1x beam over each
Pair 2: Feed bag carry & Load + 1 x lengths drag + 1x beam over each
Pair 3: Slug carry & Load + 1 x lengths drag + 1x beam over each
Pair 1: 1 x lengths drag + Slug Unload & Carry + 1x beam over each
Pair 2: 1 x lengths drag + Feed bag Unload & carry + 1x beam over each
Pair 3: 1 x lengths drag + Shield Unload & Carry + 1x beam over each
The flow of this workout needs to be seen so we will run through it at the briefing on Friday Night!
EVENT 4: 'OBJECT SHIFT'
Time: 12 mins
Format: Full Team
Location: Main arena
A straight up repeat from the peoples favourite workout last year!
Athletes will move all the objects and themselves to the other end of the lane whilst moving under 1 beam and over another.
- 1x small worm
- 1x 45kg feedbag
- 1x 25kg feedbag
- 1x shield sandbag 45kg
- 1x shield sandbag 65kg
3,2,1…Go athletes must move all the object from one end of the lane to the other whilst going under the low beam and over the medium beam
Score is one point for each object and 1 point per athlete a full round must be completed before heading back i.e all the objects and athletes must get to one end all athletes hands touching, before moving back. Score is total points. 1 round = 11 reps
EVENT 5: 'TO THE SUMMIT'
Format: full team score, individual run
Location: Start line near warm up area
Distance: Approx 4.5km trail run
- Various terrain and ascents/descents
- Heats of 6 teams will set off every 2 mins.
- Chip timers will record your time
- Score is combined time for all 6 athletes so running individually
- Optional pond crossing or Run around (longer)
EVENT 6: 'NO BURPEES TIL NOW'
Time: 12 mins AMRAP
Format: Full Team
Location: Main arena
8 x Alt worm cleans
12 x Worm over burpees
1 x Log shuttle run
Athletes will start prone behind the baseline. 3,2,1…Go athletes will move to the worm and Perform 8 worm cleans alternating the shoulder each rep. On completion of 8 reps Athletes will then perform 12 worm over burpees, 3 athletes each side in an arrow style. After the burpees the team will head to the end of the arena and pick up and run their XL Log down the beach and back in a shuttle run. Once the Log is back the round is repeated for 12 mins.
1 round is 22 reps as the shuttle run is 2 reps one for out to the end and one for returning. At the end point of the run the log must be grounded to complete the rep before turning to come back.
EVENT 7: 'FLIPPIN BEAMS'
Time: 8mins
Format: 2x sub teams of 3
***NOTE*** Remember your team is responsible for booking this in at a time when you are not required elsewhere.
Location: Side Arena
Sub teams YGIG rounds of:
3 x Balance beams (1 each)
2 x Synchro Stone to shoulder (55,45,35kg)
3 x Big tyre flips
3,2,1...Go!
Athletes will start prone in their lane. On go the first sub team will come out and cross the balance beam one at a time to complete the 3 reps. After this they will head to the atlas stones and lift all three stones at the same time to the shoulder in synchro. To complete the round there is three Big Tyre flips before running back to tag the next sub team. The second sub team will then complete the same round. This will continue until the time is elapsed.
Note: sub teams cannot be changed once the workout has started.
SEMI-FINAL: ‘TUG OF WAR!’
Format: Full Team, Head to Head
Time: hopefully short! HAHA!
Location: Main
1 ROUND TUG OF WAR KNOCKOUT
Teams will line up against each other 1st against 24th, 2nd against 23rd etc.
On the call of TAKE THE STRAIN, PULL! teams will pull against each other until there is a winner .
If a member of a team touches the centre line they will have to let go and run to the back of the rope. If a team member touches the base line they must let go and run to the front. This is a dynamic tug of war that is both exciting and nerve racking with high stakes.
