MetFix Gauntlet at PSKC
About This Competition
Brought to you by MetFix - the funnest fitness festival returns Saturday, June 7th! The Gauntlet will be our biggest one yet!
Format: The 4 person (2 male / 2 female) team community competition will feature a Competitor's Category, a Not So Serious Category, a brand new 4 Seasons Division!
This competition tests your ability to communicate as a team, problem solve on the fly, and of course your overall work capacity.
The format is a shotgun cannonball style - meaning your team will work through 3-4 events 90 minutes straight with minimal breaks in between.
DIVISIONS -
Competitor: This category is for the RX athlete who loves to compete and can do all the Open workouts RX’d.
Not So Serious: This division is great for first time athletes and people who just want to throw down. The workouts will still be very challenging but will be programmed for athletes of all levels.
4 Seasons Age Division! The minimum cumulative team age must be 160. For example you could have a 50 year old dad, a 15 year old daughter, a 35 year old mom, and a 60 year old grandfather on the same team (160 total years). Or you could have 4 x 40 year olds on the same team. The programming will be the same as the Not So Serious Category. The intent here is to have folks of all ages compete together in a fun event.
The events will be take place at multiple locations throughout downtown Portsmouth with the gym being the central hub.
Also, we will be throwing an afterparty! Come for the Gauntlet but plan to make a weekend out of it for the MetFix community.

Workouts
For Reps
Split into same sex pairs
PAIR A
AMRAP7
P1: 1 x 40' Sled Pull (135/90) (90/45)
P2: DKB Farmer's Carry (70/53) (53/35)
***P1 runs rope to 40' line, feet must be behind the line, then begin a hand-over-hand pull until the sled passes the line. At the same time, P2 will carry 2 kb's until they pass the 40' line. Athletes may switch once sled and kbs have both crossed the line. P2 will then pick up the rope, run it back to the start line, and begin a hand-over-hand pull with P1 on the kb's.
***Sled and KBs move at the same time — if one partner stops, the other must stop.
2:00 REST // TRANSITION
PAIR B
AMRAP7
5 - 10 - 15 - 20 - ....
P1: DDB S2OH (50/35) (35/20)
P2: Wall Balls to 10'/9' Target (20/14) (14/10)
***Athletes work at the same time, both must complete the assigned reps at each movement before moving up the ladder (e.g. Both must complete 5 S2OH and 5 Wall Balls before moving up to 10, etc.). They must wait until their partner is done before moving to the next movement.
***In general: achieve a full squat (hips below knees) + the ball hitting the target on the wall balls, and full lockout (legs/knees and arms are straight) on the S2OH. They may push press or push jerk the bells.
Once each pair has completed the 7 minutes at their station, they will then switch after the 2:00 rest period, so each pair will complete each AMRAP on the team.
