Iron Cowboy Partner Shootout
About This Competition
Welcome to our annual comp the Iron Cowboy Partner Shootout. We are excited to get everyone back for a warmer weather event this year, as we typically hold this comp around January. We will continue to update the event as more information rolls out but here is what we know so far.
- 2 day comp saturday and sunday
- 6 workouts total
- teams of 2 M/M or F/F pairs
- Rx and scaled divisions this year!
- workouts will be released periodically leading up to the event
-refunds are available until May 15th!
Recommended movement standards for going RX are at the very bottom of the page.
- substitutions due to a partner dropping out etc are allowed, just notify us asap. IF your partner is not the same shirt size etc as your previous partner's shirt orders cannot be changed.
- Event location will be at Stratton Myers field/amphitheater in Green River, WY. There will be areas where you can set up a tent etc. on the concrete, it is not permitted that you set up a tent in the field due to water lines being damaged in the past. Restrooms will be available, and plenty of sanitation to go around.
- we will be hosting a fundraiser 5k the morning of the event to the public. If you have people traveling with you they are welcome to participate with a waiver and entry fee donation.
All entry fees for the 5k will go towards sponsoring kids in need for our Summer CF kids program.
- we want to run a fun and safe event.
RX athletes should be able to perform the following movements but not limited to: If this is not you, we suggest you strongly consider signing up for the scaled division.
We will let athletes scale the workouts if needed, but you cannot beat a team who does the workout RX. even if Rx does 1 rep and scaled version finishes the workout. Just like the open.
You can expect most if not all movement standards held in Crossfit Open to hold true here.

Workouts
RX
FOR TIME:
Part 1: @ 0:00
Sprint course ( APPROX 250-350 ft course)
Partner 1 sprints the course and tags partner 2 who sprints the same course.
( RX ONLY) part 2: @3;00
2 laps around the square for time, if not max distance will be calculated, you will alternate between partners on attempts time cap is 10:00 total of 3 attempts each.
Clean MAX
each partner will build up the ladder, once you miss you're out
then you go to a tie-breaker heat.
Example: last place male team would lift first ( individually), then the next team, etc, once that weight has been either missed or cleared. the individuals who missed that weight will immediately go into a tie-breaker round ( 5 reps for time at the designated weight - then sprint to finish line )
If you made the weight, you advance to the next round.

FOR LOAD:
MUCH LIKE THE CLEAN EVENT IN THE 2019 GAMES
Clean the designated weights in order, this will be grouped into heats based on the current standings.
Example: last place male team would lift first ( individually), then the next team, etc, once that weight has been either missed or cleared. the individuals who missed that weight will immediately go into a tie-breaker round ( 5 reps for time at the designated weight - then sprint to finish line )
If you made the weight, you advance to the next round.
:30 seconds to attempt up to 2 times.

Must bring own bike and helmet at least 1. Any chain-driven nonbattery assisted bike is allowed. We advise one that is made to ride in dirt/sand etc as the course has pavement, concrete, dirt. etc.

bike loop route = approx 2-2.5 miles

Partner 1 starts with a run on green belt towards Scotts bottom nature area, tags partner 2 who will be ready with MTN BIKE and ride the course, once partner 2 is back partner 1 switches to bike rides the same course, once they are back tag partner 2 to run the final leg home ( same run partner 1 did to start)
You will need to bring 1 bike of your own, chain-driven, no battery assistance, etc. You must wear a helmet, which is also something you must provide. The specific style of bike is your choice ( gravel/ mtn/ etc) we do not suggest a bike that is not made to go on gravel/dirt/sand/ etc.
Run route Approx .75 miles
Bike Loop approx 2-2.5 miles
