About This Competition
RAINHILL AUTUMN 2023
Welcome to Rainhill Autumn 2023
This no qualifier event is designed to open competition to any and all regardless of your experience. Once registered competitors will complete a series of seeding workouts which allows athletes of different abilities to be placed in one of four levels of competition. These competitors will then take to the live floor at SPORTCITY, MANCHESTER, M11 3FF over the weekend of SATURDAY 11TH NOVEMBER and SUNDAY 12TH NOVEMBER to challenge themselves against entrants of a similar ability. Athletes will only compete on one of the two days, depending on their category.

The kettlebell must be held overhead in either arm, with the arm locked out, and the kettlebell directly over the centre of the body before beginning the lunges. The rear knee must touch the ground and feet must be stepped together with the athlete standing tall, for each rep to count. Both feet must be brought together on the final rep before the KB is dropped from OH.
FRONT RACK SINGLE ARM ALT FWD LUNGES
The kettlebell must be carried in the front rack position for the duration of the lunges, with the elbow up before beginning the lunge. The rear knee must touch the ground and feet must be stepped together for each rep to count. Both feet must be together with the athlete standing tall before the KB is dropped from the front rack
PISTOL SQUATS
At the start and finish of each rep, the ankle knee & hip of the working leg must be fully extended. The non working leg must remain off the floor and in front of the body. The athlete may hold onto the non working leg. At the bottom the hip crease must pass below the top of the knee of the non working leg. The athlete must show control at the top of the rep, and if any part of the body touches the floor before lockout, the rep will not count. The athlete must alternate legs after each successful rep. Resting the non working leg on the working leg or using the hands/arms to push off is not allowed.
CLEAN AND JERK
The barbell begins on the ground. Touch & go is permitted. No bouncing of the bar or catching the barbell on rebound. Athlete may use a muscle, power or squat clean, but not a hang clean. The lift must have two distinct phases, the clean and the jerk. Snatching is not permitted. The barbell must have contact with the shoulders on the clean but it is NOT necessary to lockout the hips & legs before lifting the bar over head. The barbell must be locked out overhead, with the arms, hips & legs fully extended and the feet in line for the rep to count. Athletes may press, push press, push jerk or split jerk provided the required finish position is achieved.

The athlete must perform a Burpee under the rig facing the crowd, with the chest & hips fully contacting the floor, and the hands release to touch the side of the head, before jumping up to touch with one hand. Athletes may step or jump both feet in and out on the Burpee, and must be fully extended at the top of the Burpee, with the head and shoulders lifted.

The athlete must start each rep with the arms full extended in the dead hang position with feet off the ground. Kipping, strict or butterfly style are allowed. Any style of grip is permitted as long as the other requirements are met. The rep is credited when the athletes chin is clearly visible above the bar.
CHEST TO BAR PULL UP
The athlete must start each rep with the arms fully extended in the dead hang position with feet off the ground. Kipping, strict or butterfly style are allowed. Any style of grip is permitted as long as the other requirements are met. The rep is credited when the chest clearly comes into contact with the bar, at or below the collarbone.
SANDBAG ALT CLEAN TO SHOULDER
Sandbag must start on the ground, and be cleaned to the shoulder. At the shoulder the opposite arm MUST BE RELEASED OUT TO THE SIDE, whilst the sandbag is under control, for the rep to count. Each good repetition must alternate shoulders. Touch and go is permitted, as are single reps. If the sandbag is thrown over the shoulder, the rep will not count.

WOOD/RASTRICK
2RM Hang Clean
KENNEDY/ROCKET
2RM Hang Snatch
If you fail a rep you may re-attempt that rep providing the bar does not touch the ground. You may pause in the front rack position (WOOD/RASTRICK), in the hang or in the overhead position.
Male athletes will have a 20kg bar, female athletes a 15kg bar, along with a pair of each of 20kg, 15kg, 10kg, 5kg, 2.5kg and 1.25kg – a total weight of 127.5kg per platform (males) and 122.5kg per platform (females).
If a Barbell is dropped in an uncontrolled fashion and leaves the platform will result in a no-rep for the complex.
// MOVEMENT STANDARDS //

TOES TO BAR
In the toes-to-bar, the athlete must go from a full hang to having the toes touch the pull-up bar. Both feet must be in contact with the bar at the same time, inside the hands (but do not have to first make contact at the same moment). The arms and hips must be fully extended at the bottom and the feet must be brought back behind the bar and behind the body.
HANGING LEG RAISE
The athlete must go from a full hang to the legs being lifted so that the heel is above the hip. The arms and hips must be fully extended at the bottom and the feet must be brought back behind the bar and behind the body. Athletes must do 3 HLR for 1 TTB rep. There is no penalty for scaling in the WOOD or RASTRICK division.
During competition you may push yourself harder than you would in training, and the rig may be a different surface to what you are used to, as such hand tears can be common. Hand protection is allowed – however you may not tape or adjust the rig in any other way.
BURPEE BOX JUMPS
The athlete must be orientated perpendicular and facing the box, with the chest & hips fully contacting the floor before jumping onto the box. You may step in or jump both feet in on the Burpee. The athlete may jump on and step down or jump on and jump off. There is no penalty for scaling this movement to a Burpee Box Step Up in the WOOD or RASTRICK division. BOTH feet must make contact with the top of the box. The rep will count when the athlete is standing tall with the ankles, knees & hips fully extended, and shoulders retracted at the top.
DOUBLE UNDER
This is the standard double-under in which the rope passes under the feet twice for each jump. The rope must spin forward for the rep to count. Only successful jumps are counted, not just attempts. Athletes should bring their own ropes as these will not be provided.
SINGLE UNDER
This is the standard single-under in which the rope passes under the feet once for each jump. The rope must spin forward for the rep to count. Only successful jumps are counted, not just attempts. The jump must be two footed take off, alternating feet is NOT permitted. Athletes should bring their own ropes as these will not be provided. Athletes must do 3 SU for 1 DU rep. There is no penalty for scaling in the WOOD or RASTRICK division.
Only the top 15 athletes in each category after the first 5 workouts will compete in the final workout
