About This Competition

🔥 Trial by Fire CrossFit Competition🔥

Join us for our second annual event as we push our fitness to the next level with "Trial by Fire"! On May 17, 2025, prepare to push your limits, test your strength, and ignite your competitive fire. There will be 4 workouts that athletes will be tested on throughout the day. Workouts and heat times will be released leading up to the event.

Divisions: All are welcome to compete! Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or you're a seasoned athlete, we have divisions tailored to your skill level:

Scaled

10 Min AMRAP
- 20 Sandbag over shoulder (40/60)
- 20 Sandbag box step overs (40/60) (20"/24")
- 6X20' carry any way (40/60)

 

 

Standards

- Athletes must have sandbag cross over the path of the shoulder. It may touch or fully clear the shoulder as long as it is traveling clearly over and in line with the shoulder.

- Reps may occur on any shoulder. For example athletes can do every rep on the Left shoulder if they would like.

- Sandbag box step overs can be held anyway the athlete chooses but arms or sandbag may not come in contact with the legs.

- Carry - OH must be elbows locked out with bag overhead. Grip can be on the sides of bag or under but not holding from the top. Bear hug cannot have hands or arms intertwined or locked. Carry anyway is allowed as long as there is no assistance of legs touching arms. Sandbag cannot be thrown, it must be carried.

- 1 Mile run

Intermediate

- 1 Mile run
- (15/20) Cal Bike
- 30 HSPU
- (30/40) Cal Ski

 

Scaled

- 1000M run
- (15/20) Cal Bike
- 30 Box knee pushups
- (30/40) Cal Ski

 

Standards

- 1 Mile marker is 800M out and 800M back. Must cross over the line with both feet. A judge will be there at that point to assist with proper distance.

- Scaled 1,000M run will be to the 800M and 200M marks which are each 400M and 100M out and back. again there will be a judge out at those points to make sure every athlete hits the proper distance.

- The run starts and ends at the door, each time even for the out and back for the 800 and 200M sections for scaled. 

- Each machine and lane is first come first serve.

- Judges will not assist with the machines in any way. Athlete must control all settings and adjustments themselves. 

- Athletes must stay on machines with butts on seat, feet on pedals, hands on handles until the last calorie ticks over.

 

HSPU

Advanced - deficit HSPU

- Hands must be on each of the two (15/25) bumper plates. Fingers may not touch the ground but do not have to be on the top of the plate

- Althetes head must touch the ground between the plates.

- For a rep to be complete the, the athlete must reach full lockout, with hips open, body in line with arms and heels touching the wall. The athelte may pass through an arched spine posiition as long as the rep is completed with an open hip and neutral spine, ribs tucked. 

- Butt and or back may touch the wall at the bottom position but must be off the wall when rep is completed at lockout. 

- Athletes may start with their head on the floor as the start position of the rep.

 

Intermediate - HSPU

- Athletes palms of their hands must be within the tape lines 36" wide and 24" from the wall.

- For a rep to be complete the, the athlete must reach full lockout, with hips open, body in line with arms and heels touching the wall. The athelte may pass through an arched spine posiition as long as the rep is completed with an open hip and neutral spine, ribs tucked. 

- Butt and or back may touch the wall at the bottom position but must be off the wall when rep is completed at lockout. 

- Athletes may start with their head on the floor as the start position of the rep.

 

Scaled - Box HSPU

- Knees on box with no foot hook occurring. 

- Hands on floor with palms inside of a 24" deep by 36" wide taped box. 

- Head may start on the ground at the beginning of a rep.

- For a rep to be complete the, the athlete must reach full lockout, body in line with arms with hips over the head and head through the arms with nose towards box. The athelte may pass through an arched spine posiition as long as the rep is completed with a neutral spine, ribs tucked.

Event 3 - Loaded

Scaled

7 Min AMRAP
- 7 Jumping pull-ups
- 7 Power Cleans (95/135)

 

 

Advanced standards

- BMU - athlete must start with full extension of the arms with heels behind the plane of the bar and end with full extension of the elbows passing through the dip. 

- Feet are not permitted to be above the plane of the bar in the transition for a rep to count.

- Power cleans - bar starts at the ground and a power clean must be performed (not muscle or squat).

- Elbows must be in front of the bar with full extension of the knees, hips and spine at the finish of the rep.

 

Intermediate standards

- Chest to bar - Bar must be at or below the collar bone

- Power cleans - bar starts at the ground and a power clean must be performed (not muscle or squat)

- Elbows must be in front of the bar with full extension of the knees, hips and spine at the finish of the rep.

 

Scaled standards

- Jumping pull-ups are Open standards - bar must be at least 6 inches from top of head with athlete fully standing

- Jumping pullup the athlete must have elbows fully locked out at the start of each rep and chin clearly above the bar at the end of each rep

- Power cleans - bar starts at the ground and a power clean must be performed (not muscle or squat)

- Elbows must be in front of the bar with full extension of the knees, hips and spine at the finish of the rep.

Floater Event - “Stroll”

This event is as follows 3 min of HSW


Advanced

- HSW - Every 5 feet counts as 1 rep
- Hips must be above shoulders and hands at some point in the walk 5 foot increment. No flying squirrel the whole way.
- Hands and feet must start behind the line.
- Hands must cross the line before the feet hit the ground.
- Athletes may pirouette as long as they end on the opposite side of the line and then turn and start, what is now, in front of the line.

 

Intermediate

- Plate steps - every left hand, right hand on top and back to the ground counts as 1 rep
- Rep starts with feet on the wall body fully stacked, hips shoulders, elbows and spine all in line
- Fingers may not touch the ground when hands are in top of plate.

- Whole hand does not have to be on the plate at the top of the rep.
- Practice these they are less difficult once you get used to them.
- Feet may come off the wall before the hands return to the ground as long as the hands touch the ground before the feet touch the ground.

 

Scaled 

- Burpee broad jump - every 5 feet counts as 1 rep.
- Hands replace feet at the beginning of each rep.

- No falling forward at the beginning of each burpee. 
- Reps are counted for every 5 feet distance cleared by the feet. 
- If feet do not clear the final distance (IE 25' mark) at the turnaround point, another burpee broad jump is required. 
- Chest must touch the ground for each rep. 
- A step up and step down is allowed for the burpee. 
- Full extension at the top of the burpee is not required. 
- The rep starts with athelte standing behind the line and then going to a burpee with hands behind the line.
