About This Competition
Outland Games 2024
Come out and enjoy our 5th Mixed Partner CrossFit competition at the Sunflower Festival in our hometown Altona, Manitoba!
Being the only complete outdoor competition, athletes can expect workouts that will include many of the well known CrossFit movements, but will also include a few movements to challenge that strength. We will NOT be testing high level gymnastic movements or heavy snatch. However, athletes should bring all of their usual gear, including a swimsuit!
Mixed teams will test their fitness across broad time and modal domains with each team guaranteed 4 events (and a final). All WODs are partner workouts where athletes can divide up the work any way they want.
Intermediate (umm....can we say Rockstar?)
You fit into this division if you are rocking most workouts RX and can work with the following:
-50lbs/35lbs DB/ KB
-135lbs/95lbs Overhead Press
-225lbs/155lbs Deadlift
-155lbs/125lbs Clean and Jerk
-24”/20” Box Jumps
-Double unders
-20lbs/14lbs wallballs
-Swimming (one partner)
Strongman standards: Come ready to test your limits!!
(If the only thing stopping you from intermediate is double unders, we recommend intermediate 😉)
Scaled (Like a baby dragon transforming into a beast)
You fit into this division if you are newer to CrossFit and still learning the ropes. You should be able to work with the following:
-35lbs/25lbs DB/ KB
-115lbs/75lbs Overhead Press
-185lbs/125lbs Deadlift
-115lbs/85lbs Clean and Jerk
-20” Box Jumps or Steps
-Single unders
-20lbs/14lbs wallballs
-Swimming (one partner)

Workouts
Event 3: CHAMPIONS COMBO
10 minutes to complete a heavy complex
Each team will be given 10 minutes to build to a strong complex of
1 clean from the floor
2 hang cleans
3 front squats
The cleans can be squat or power cleans.
Score is the total heaviest weight between partners

At start time all bars will be empty. One athlete at a time will begin with a clean from the ground, which can be a squat or power clean. Once you have fully stood up from the clean, you will move the bar to the hang position for your 2 hang cleans, once you have fully stood up from your 2nd clean you will move to your 3 front squats, each rep squatting below 90 and fully standing up each time.
Partners can help each other load the bars.
Judges cannot help athletes load the bars.
Standards
- After each movement, you need to reach a full stand-up position before moving on to the next movement.
- If you choose to squat clean, they do not count towards your 3 front squats.
- All lifts must be completed at the 10-minute mark, no lifts will be counted after the 10-minute timer has gone off
300 air squats
While 1 partner is working through air squats, the other partner is shuttle running. Can switch at any point.
4 rounds for time
15-minute time cap
Partner run
30 total single-arm KB hang snatches
30 total single-arm KB OH reverse lunges
Intermediate
Kettlebell: 50/35

Kettlebell: 35/25

Teams will start at the top of the hill in their assigned station.
On 3 2 1 go…. both partners will proceed to run down the hill together, in front of the pond, and back up the hill to their assigned station.
Once both partners have arrived back at their station, they will proceed to complete the prescribed kettlebell hang snatches and overhead reverse lunges. These can be split up however you would like. You can use whatever arm you want to.
Once all the prescribed snatches and overhead lunges are complete both partners will proceed to complete another round.
Once all 4 rounds have been completed, you have finished event 2!
Standards:
- The run will be done together, starting at the top of the hill.
- The hang KB snatch starts at the knee and is finished once full overhead extension is completed, you can break up the reps any way you want.
- The OH reverse is with the KB in locked out position overhead while the foot is stepping back to get the knee to the ground. The knee must touch the ground.
*With both of these movements you can use any arm you want or switch it up any way you want.
Event 1: Pool Pump

Partner A- Swim T&B with a flutter board
Partner B- 75 Doubleunders/ 150 Singles
30 DB bench press
10 synchro DB thrusters
Intermediate
Dumbbells: 50/35
75 Double-unders

Dumbbells: 35/25
150 single-unders

3 2 1 go Partner A will jump into the water and complete a there and back swim with a flutter board, (you can hold onto the board any way you want, but it must be on you).
While partner A is swimming, partner B completes the prescribed skips.
Once the swim and skips are both completed, teams can begin working through 30 dumbbell bench presses. These can be split up however you would like. Followed with 10 synchro dumbbell thrusters.
Repeat as many rounds as you can in 11 minutes.
Standards:
DB bench is the DB head touching your body to full lockout with your feet on the ground or plate if needed. No dropping the DB's.
Synchro DB thruster is full squat, breaking 90 and pushing up to full lockout. Both partners need to meet at the top before moving on to your next rep.
