BAWF Individual Open 23
About This Competition
To enter you must be currently serving as a Regular or Reservist within the British Army.
The British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF) Competition is a military physical fitness competition that supports and encourages military fitness training in accordance with AGAI Vol 1 Ch 7 Physical Training. It is designed to incorporate varied exercises which all have relevance to the Army Physical Training System and is a direct output of PROGRAMME THOR.
The aim is to find the “Fittest in the Army” in each category stated below. The event will consist of 4 workouts with a workout being released fortnightly.
The BAWF Open will have 6 categories:
Open Male. These will be broken down into Regular and Scaled Categories.
Open Female. These will be broken down into Regular and Scaled Categories.
Scaled. Scaled division for Male or Female athletes not able to complete all movements as per Athlete Guide which can be found at our defence connect page.
Masters. Male or Female Athletes must be aged 35-42 on the day of the 1st WOD (21 Jul 23).
Masters+. Male or Female Athletes will compete using the scaled events where appropriate and must be aged 43 or over on the day of the 1st WOD (21 Jul 23).

Open
10Km WattBike for time
Score – Time taken to complete 10km
Format –
· Athletes will begin on the WattBike
· Athletes must start with a 10km distance on the WattBike screen
· On completion of 10Km athletes are to show the completed distance and the time taken to complete
· Pro or Trainer WattBike can be used
· Dampner settings are at athletes discretion

Open
5 Rounds for time
· 20 Cal Row
· 10 Thrusters 40kg/25kg
Score – Time taken to complete 5 Rounds
Format –
· Athletes will begin on the rower
· On completion of 20 Calories athletes will move to the Barbell
· Thrusters can begin with a squat clean or power clean into thruster
· This continues until all 5 rounds are complete
· Athletes must show 0 Cals on Rower to being workout and 100 Cals on Monitor at completion

10 Dumbbell Box step overs 15kg/10kg

Format
· Dumbbells will begin on the floor
· Male athletes 24” Box Female 20”
· Athletes start by completing 8 Devil press
· Dumbbells start on the floor, athletes complete burpee between the dumbbells with chest and thighs touching the ground and two hands on the dumbbells
· Dumbbells are then pulled over head, Elbows must be locked out at the top of each rep with feet in line and hips, knees, ankles locked out at the top of each rep
· Athletes then commence dumbbell box step overs, dumbbells must not make contact with the box at any point during the 10 step overs
· Athletes clean dumbbells to shoulder to commence squats, 1 head of each dumbbell must remain in contact with the shoulder during each rep. At the top of each squat ankles, knees and hips must be locked out
· 30 double unders then completed
· Continue for 14 minutes
