Built For Baker

Built For Baker is a charity fundraising competition being held October 24th at Built Strength and Conditioning, Owen Sound! 

The competition will be a PowerHour format where each team, in their designated heat time, will complete 10 workouts in 60 minutes. Each workout is thoughtfully programmed after Dani, with 1 minute transition time between workouts, and with the final workout each hour dedicated to her. 

The competition will consist of:

Teams of 3, Same Sex

4 Divisions: Rx, Scaled, Masters (45+), and *NEW* Built for Life - a division for the everyday athlete with zero CrossFit experience required.

About Danica Baker:

At the age of 16, Danica Baker, passed away in the tragic car accident that took the lives of beloved Coach, and 3 other teammates on May 23, 2025.

Danica Baker was a member of the Bluewater Ballistix Volleyball Club. Her teammates described her as loving, caring, and supportive. If she entered a room of strangers she would have a room full of friends by the time she left.

 Danica Baker Memorial Gift Fund:

In memory of Dani, there has been a fund created called "The Danica Baker Memorial Bursary Fund". 

This fund helps support bursaries for families with financial needs, so their kids can participate in sport - with priority going to those wanting to participate in the Bluewater Ballistix Volleyball Program.

Fundraising

Each team will receive their own Team Fundraising page to help do their own fundraising as part of the event. All information on how to fundraise, etc. will be emailed shortly after registration. 

The Golden Volleyball Award will be awarded to the top Fundraising Team

Best Dressed - who doesn't love a good team outfit?

Biggest Smile - Danica was always smiling, and supporting those around here. The team that elicits this the most will be awarded

Goofball Award - Danica loved being silly and having one. We want to see which team is enjoying themselves the most throughout the event!!

Only 1st placed teams will be award prizes 

Team Substitutions

Teams may substitute a teammate if one can no longer attend. We just ask you inform us as soon as you know so we can make the necessary changes.

Registration and Refund Policy

$100 of all Registration fees will go towards helping cover event costs, with all remaining, and money raised during the event will go directly to her Gift Fund. Any money left over after event fees will also go directly to her Gift Fund.

Registration Fees are non refundable.

Parking

Parking will be available on site, however the parking lot is smaller and there will be additional parking found accross the street at Georgian College.
