Movement Standards
DB Shoulder to Overhead:
The dumbbells must be at the shoulders with the hands below the ears to begin each shoulder-to-overhead. At least one hex of the dumbbell must be touching the shoulder before starting each rep. A press, push press, push jerk, or split jerk are all permitted as long as the finish position is achieved. The rep is credited when the dumbbells are locked out overhead. The athlete’s arms, hips, and legs must be fully extended before they lower the dumbbells.
Wall Balls:
The medicine ball must be in the support position in front of the body at the start of each rep. Squat until the hip crease is below the knee. Squat cleaning is allowed as long as the ball starts on the ground. The rep is credited when the center of the ball hits the target at or above the specified height. • If the ball hits low or does not hit the target, it is a “no rep.” If the ball drops to the ground from the top, the ball must settle on the ground before the next rep; it cannot be caught off the bounce.
Dumbbell Snatch:
The dumbbell snatch starts with the dumbbell on the ground and finishes with the dumbbell directly overhead. At the bottom of the movement, BOTH heads of the dumbbell must touch the ground. The dumbbell must be lifted overhead in one motion. Touch-and-go is permitted. Bouncing the dumbbell is not allowed. Athletes must alternate arms after each repetition. The dumbbell must start the descent before he or she can switch hands for the next rep. The non-lifting hand and arm may not be in contact with the body during the repetition. If the athlete receives a no rep and has already switched hands, the athlete may proceed from where he or she is. The athlete does not need to return the dumbbell to the no-repped arm for the next repetition to count. At the top, the arms, hips and knees must be fully locked out with the dumbbell clearly over the middle of the athlete’s body when viewed from profile. Once the athlete has reached lockout, the repetition will count. The athlete may choose to do a muscle snatch, power snatch, squat snatch or split-style snatch. However, both feet must return and be in line under the athlete’s body while the dumbbell is locked out overhead for the repetition to count.
Standing Ski:
The monitor on the ski erg must be set to zero at the beginning of the round 5. The Ski monitor will stay on during the duration of rounds 5-8. Do NOT reset the monitor as it will impact your score. You may adjust the damper at any time. You may not start skiing until your partner has completed their DB snatches and your judge has given you the go ahead.
Seated Ski:
The monitor on the ski erg must be set to zero at the beginning of the ski for each round. You may adjust the damper at any time. You may not start skiing until your partner has completed their DB S2O and your judge has given you the go ahead. During the Ski, the athlete must remain seated on the bench once they start their skiing. If the athlete does not stay seated during the Ski, a 1 calorie penalty will be added to that round.
