Workouts
This is a "broken 6k”. Athletes will perform a 3k TT - 2k TT- 1k TT in that order with 4 minutes rest between each piece.
Athletes will be awarded two separate scores for this workout. One for their total 6k time and one for their initial 3k time.
Teams will choose one athlete to complete this event. The same athlete may NOT complete the 2k TT and the broken 6k TT.
“Ergs don’t float" is a popular saying in rowing that is used to highlight the fact that rowing requires additional skills and finesse that are not assessed by the erg (rowing machine). Additionally, this event name is a reflection of your witty programmer as this will be our floater event....😂
The RP3 is a different type of rowing machine, that more closely mimics the fluidity and elastic movement of rowing. Athletes with solid rowing mechanics will be rewarded by this machine. Those who benefit from the static nature of the Concept2 will receive lots of “feedback” from the RP3.
For teams, both athletes will complete this event and their times will be averaged.
A sheet for time-window signups will be available the day of the event.
Friday 9/16 from 4:30 to 6:00pm athletes may stop by Redox to try out the RP3.

Athletes will complete a couplet of Calories on the erg and burpees for time. Think low-skill, high-rev that when done right results in good ol’ death rattle.
For teams, both athletes will complete this event and their times will be averaged.
Do you think of yourself as a shark or a minnow? In this scenario, the athletes will be minnow, but who can outrun the shark the longest. Every minute there will be a distance cutoff. If you don’t make the cuttoff, you’ve fallen prey to the C2 Shark! Every minute the predator picks up speed. The event ends when the last minnow has been eaten.
Hint: Athletes do not have to hit or maintain a certain speed, they just have to stay ahead of the shark!
Teams will be allowed to “hot seat” this event. This means each team will be assigned an erg and partners can switch whenever and as often as they like. Remember the only objective is to stay ahead of the shark!
Scoring: Points will be awarded based on finish order. Tiebreak will be meters at the last successful cutoff. The athlete with more meters will be awarded the tiebreak.

2,000m for time. A 2k is the Olympic distance for rowing and therefore the 2k erg time trial is the Gold Standard aerobic event in rowing.
Athletes will receive two scores for this workouts. Total 2k finish time as well as their time for the middle thousand meters.
Teams will choose one athlete to complete this event. The same athlete may NOT complete the 2k TT and the broken 6k TT.
