About This Competition

"Adaptive CrossFit practices the same fundamental movements of CrossFit, but the strategy and equipment are creatively modified to fit each person’s needs. Welcome to the first annual Alabama Adaptive Games! This is a competition dedicated to adaptive athletes of all capacities to come and participate and compete in a series of workouts.  This competition will have a division for Upper extremity adaptive, lower extremity adaptive, and seated division.  Please describe your functional skill level and any modifications you may need upon registration.  Refunds will be possible up to 24 hours before the event and substitutions will not be allowed.  Parking will be provided outside the gym.  Breakfast, Lunch, and sports drink options will be available for purchase in and around the gym during the competition.

These videos are in line with our goal for this competition: to enable adaptive athletes to compete in the sport of fitness in Alabama and to promote the capabilities of adaptive athletes to the community.

Standards for divisions as stated by WheelWOD/ Crossfit Adaptive Open standards:

"IF YOU PERFORM WORKOUTS FROM A WHEELCHAIR OR SEATED POSITION PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THE SEATED DIVISION.

IF YOU HAVE AN IMPAIRMENT THAT AFFECT YOUR LOWER LIMBS OR BODY ( BELOW THE WAIST) BUT YOU PERFORM YOUR WORKOUTS IN A STANDING POSITION PLEASE SELECT STANDING LOWER DIVISION
 
IF YOU HAVE AN IMPAIRMENT THAT AFFECTS YOUR UPPER LIMBS OR TORSO ( ABOVE THE WAIST) BUT YOU PERFORM YOUR WORKOUTS IN A STANDING POSITION, PLEASE SELECT STANDING UPPER DIVISION
 
Scaled or Rx
Rx Competitors and Scaled competitors will sign up for the same division. If an athlete performs the scaled version of the workout they will select scaled when they submit their scores and this will automatically place them lower in that event then all RX scores on the leader board. Athletes will chose each workout on how they proceed either Scaled or RX"

 

** Proceeds will be split 50/50 between the Alabama Head Injury Foundation and Samford Physical Therapy Student Association.
