About This Competition

The Battle For Middle Ground Mixed Pairs + Mixed Fours Event

The third edition of Winter Soldiers sees a big addition with a mixed 4s (MMFF) event being added.

 

Mixed Pairs Categories

- Qualifiers July 28 - August 12

  • Elite/RX
    • Top 12 teams will compete in a two day elite competition, November 16-17th
    • The next 24 teams will compete in a one day RX competition on November 17th
  • Middle Ground (Intermediate)
    • Top 60 teams compete on Saturday November 16th
  • Scaled
    • Top 48 teams compete Sunday November 17th
  • Masters Elite
    • 75+ - Top 12 teams compete Sunday November 17th
      • Athletes must have a combined age of 75 years+ (counting years and months), on November 17th 2019.
  • Masters Middle Ground (intermediate)
    • 75+ - Top 12 teams compete Saturday November 16th
      • Athletes must have a combined age of 75 years+ (counting years and months), on November 16th 2019
    • 85+ - Top 12 teams compete Saturday November 16th
      • Athletes must have a combined age of 85 years+ (counting years and months), on November 16th 2019

 

Mixed Fours Categories

- Qualifiers August 15-31st (updated)

  • Elite/RX
    • Top 12 teams will compete in a two day elite competition, November 16-17th
    • The next 12 teams will compete in a two day RX competition, November 16-17th
  • Middle Ground (Intermediate)
    • The top 48 teams compete in a two day competition, November 16-17th

 

Qualifier Format

Mixed Pairs

  • Three workouts released on July 28th.
  • All three workouts close on August 12th
  • Workouts must be performed as a pair

Mixed Fours

  • Two multi-part workouts released on August 15th
  • Workouts close on August 31st (updated)
  • Workouts performed as individuals
  • Workout options will be used, allowing teams to use the strengths of their athletes

 

Category Changes

No changes of category once the first qualifier has been released

 

 

Substitutions

Once a team has qualified for the finals, the following rules apply

Mixed Pairs

  • No substitions allowed in the two day Elite event
  • One substition allowed in lower categories should the organisers deem that this does not significantly strengthen the team

Mixed Fours

  • One substition allowed in any category should the organisers deem that this does not significantly strengthen the team

Athletes work in alternating 2:00 windows

At the start of each window, the working athlete performs 12 Hang Snatch at 35/25kg, before rowing for the rest of the window.

An Ascending Ladder Of The Macho Man Complex

 

In a 13:00 window, athletes will work in a You Go I Go format.

 

Each athlete must perform the complex of

3 Power Cleans

3 Front Squat

3 Shoulder To Overhead

 

After each successful lift, their bar increases by 5kg

 

A missed lift = the end of the workout for that athlete. Their partner can continue. 

 

The score is the total of each athlete's best successful lift
