About This Competition

Welcome to Brute Force Mile!

More than a mile, more than a workout.

This year we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

The Mile is built to push you to your limits. What you need to bring is your integrity, effort, energy and intestinal fortitude to complete this challenge. It will be grueling, it will be difficult, but it will be beyond rewarding.

What is the Brute Force Mile?

The Brute Force Mile is our biggest event of the year, where we come together as a community to push ourselves to the limit while supporting veteran and first-responder focused charities.

The workout consists of moving a heavy object (sandbags are the weapon of choice) over the distance of one mile with mini-workouts every 400 meters.

The Mile can be either virtual or in-person, meaning you can choose to attend an event put on by one of our host gyms, join some friends at a local park, or go it alone in your driveway. Regardless of how you to choose to participate, we will be coming together as a community to support those who put themselves in harm's way.

The Mile Workout

This year's Brute Force Mile workout is the toughest we have seen in some time, and we couldn't be more excited about it. We will be putting out demo videos for all of the exercises, so don't worry if you don't know all of the terminology yet.

For Time:

200m Overhead Carry
200m Bear Hug Burden Carry (don’t grip the bottom of the bag)
10 Shoulder Slams (L+R = 1)
10 Push-Up Lateral Drag Through (L+R = 1)

200m SB Lunge
200m Burden Run/Carry (bag on left shoulder)
20 Thrusters
20 Sandbag Sit-ups

200m Zercher Carry
200m Burden Run/Carry (bag on right shoulder)
30 Lateral Hops over Bag
30 Static Hold Sandbag Flutter Kicks

200m Sandbag Overhead Carry
200m Burden Carry Sprint (bag on back)
41 Brute Force Burpees (that’s one more for the Warrior in the sky)

Registration and Swag Bonus

Registration is a donation of $75* (plus a platform surcharge of $3) with all proceeds will go directly to three amazing charities, hand-picked by our team because of who they are and what they represent.

CATEGORIES

Prizes will be awarded to the Top 3 men and women in each of the following categories:

Scout: 25-50 lbs

Athlete: 50-75 lbs

Strongman: 75lbs+

Connected Warriors: Elevating the warriors in our community by engaging them in a process of healing, growth and change in ways that benefit themselves, their families and the community

Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation: Easing the transition from military to civilian life for members of the special operations community through a variety of scholarships.

Adaptive Training Foundation: Providing access and inclusion to individuals with physical or traumatic impairments by empowering them through exercise and community.

Workouts

The BRUTE FORCE MILE

The Mile is divided into 4, 400 meter segments. You will complete each 400 meters and movements before moving on to the next segment. On the final 200 Burden Carry Sprint, give it all you have and finish up with 40 Brute Force Burpees then, in true form to honor those who are no longer with us, finishing up with one POWERFUL BF Burpee for the Warrior in the Sky!

NOTE: Weight selection is critical here. It's not about carrying the heaviest bag, it's about find the weight that will challenge you and bring you right to the edge. It's time to put yourself to the test.

The workout can be completed any time from August 20th through August 28th.
