About This Competition

WELCOME TO THE 2021 TURKEY CHALLENGE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

This year's event will be something special. We are returning to an in-person event after being online-only last year due to COVID. There have been some changes, but the essence of the event in bringing together the Colorado and surrounding CrossFit community for FUN, FITNESS, and COMPETITION has not changed!

What:

12th Annual Turkey Challenge Championship Individual and 4-person Team CrossFit-style competition

Dates:

ONLINE PORTION - 3 Workouts will be posted online on Thursday, November 11th by 5pm. Teams and Individuals must complete workouts and have scores submitted by Tuesday, November 16th at 8pm MST. Specific details around how to judge/video the workouts will be posted prior to releasing the workouts. The intent is for these workouts to be done in a single day, and even in a single 2-3 hour session if needed. Teams must be together and in the same place performing these workouts. Please watch this short video for more explanation of the online portion.

IN-PERSON PORTION - November 20th (teams) & November 21st (individuals). Both days roughly 8am to 4:30pm. 3 Workouts done on site. Workouts will begin being announced the final week. Be prepared for both indoor and outdoor workouts! Venue and information about parking, spectators, etc. will be announced prior to the competition.

Location:

Venue is in the north Denver metro area and will be announced to athletes 1-2 weeks before the competition.

Divisions:

Individual Men & Women Pro (invite only), Rx, Open, 40+, Teen. 4-Person Coed Team Rx & Open. For questions about divisions, see the general guidance with the Load List here.

Details:

A $6,000 cash purse will be split for Individual Pro and Rx Team podiums. Prizes for podium finishers in all divisions.

As always, we are partnering with some awesome charity partners. This year we are partnering with https://iamtuf.org/. We will be raffling off a Rep Fitness PR5000 Squat Rack to help in fundraising.

INDIVIDUALS EVENT 1 - 14-MIN AMRAP

Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 14 minutes of:

8 Alternating hang dumbbell snatch

10 dumbbell box step overs, 24/20” box

12 Wall balls to 10/9’ target

VARIATIONS

Pro - 50/35 lb. dumbbell, 24/20” box, 30/20 lb. wall ball 

Rx/Open/40+/Teen - 50/35 lb. dumbbell, 24/20” box, 20/14 lb. wall ball

 

TEAMS EVENT 1 - 14-MIN AMRAP

As many rounds and reps as possible in 14 minutes of:

MF pair 1

8 Synchro alternating hang dumbbell snatch

8 Synchro dumbbell box step overs, 24/20” box

8 Synchro wall balls to 10/9’ target

MF pair 2

8 Synchro alternating hang dumbbell snatch

8 Synchro dumbbell box step overs, 24/20” box

8 Synchro wall balls to 10/9’ target

Add 2 reps to wall balls after each completed round. For example, MF pair 1 would return for round 2 and do 8 Synchro alternating hang dumbbell snatch, 8 Synchro dumbbell box step overs, 24/20” box, and 10 Synchro wall balls to 10/9’ target. Then, MF pair 2 would return for their round 2 and do 10 synchro wall balls as well. In the 3rd round, the wall balls would increase to 12 reps.

VARIATIONS

Rx Teams 50/35 lb. dumbbell, 24/20” box, 30/20 lb. wall ball (women to 9’)

Open Teams - 50/35 lb. dumbbell, 24/20” box, 20/14 lb. wall ball (women to 9’)

Men will work together on 1 bar. Women will work together on 1 bar.

Score will be the highest successful weight lifted for each athlete combined for the entire team score. For example,  M1 + M2 + F1 + F2= total team score.
