Ladies of Power - Women's Powerlifting Competition in Kansas City
Lifting weights & funds for the Breast Cancer charity, Compete for a Cure!
HOST: Barbell Strength Weightlifting in Lawrence, KS
EVENT DATE: 20th January, 2024
EARLY BIRD ENDS: 28th November, 2023
FREE SHIRT DEADLINE: 2nd January, 2024
ENRIES CLOSE: 13th January, 2024 (unless it sells out first)
*No refunds will be provided but a transfer of entry to another competitor is allowed if you need to withdraw from the competition
*If under 18, the athlete must have their parent/guardian sign their waiver & be present at the competition.
DIVISIONS:
Junior Athletes
- Athletes from 12 - 20 years of age
- Scored using the athletes Wilks coefficient
Masters Athletes
- Athletes from 40 years of age & older
- Scored using the athletes Wilks coefficient
Open Athletes
- Athletes between 21 - 39 years of age
- This division has 5 bodyweight classes:
- Under 125 lbs
- Under 145 lbs
- Under 170 lbs
- Under 195 lbs
- 195 lbs & Over
- Scored using the athletes Total
- best squat + bench + deadlift
POWERLIFTING LIFTS
- 3 attempts at the Back Squat
- 3 attempts at the Bench Press
- 3 attempts at the Deadlift
- 1 minute to take your attempts
- No previous expereince is necessary
- All levels are welcome
FUNDRAISING
- $5 of every entry fee is donated to Compete for a Cure.
- All athletes are welcome to create their own fundraising page for Compete for a Cure to share with family & friends.

EQUIPMENT ALLOWED
- Single-ply singlets are allowed, but not required.
- Athletes are encouraged to wear what they are most comfortable in.
- Neoprene knee sleeves, wrist wraps, weightlifting belts, and lifting shoes are allowed.
- Athletes must wear long knee socks for the deadlift or long tights that cover your shins.
EQUIPMENT NOT ALLOWED
- Multi-ply singlets and squat shorts are not allowed.
- Athletes not wearing singlets must wear shorts that are no longer than mid-thigh and a T-shirt.
- Large or baggy clothing is not allowed.
- Knee wraps, elbow sleeves, and wrist straps are not allowed.
MANDATORY ATHLETE CHECK-IN
- All athletes must weigh in and provide their opening attempts, plus rack heights at check in which will be between 7:30 - 8:30am the morning of your event
- Rules & regulations will be sent to all athletes prior to the event

Workouts
In this event, you will have (3) attempts to find your 1RM Back Squat. Your opening lift will be given at check-in on the day of the event and you cannot change this once check-in is complete. After completing your first attempt, please head over to the scoring table to announce your 2nd attempt and so on until all three attempts are completed.
Only your highest, successful lift will be scored in your total. For a successful attempt, you will need to obtain a minimum of 2 out of 3 white lights from the judges.
In this event, you will have (3) attempts to find your 1RM Back Squat. Your opening lift will be given at check-in on the day of the event and you cannot change this once check-in is complete.
