About This Competition

DETAILS

True Paw Throwdown is Annapolis's original partner competition.  It started as a friendly throwdown between two local gyms.  This year we are opening it up to all athletes to come test their fitness!

From it's inception True Paw Throwdown has been a competition where athletes of all levels can be challenged and have fun.  From beginner to seasoned, the workouts will have something for everyone.  This year we are bringing it back with two major changes!  First, anyone can participate regardless of gym affiliation.  Second, we will be adding a 40+ masters division (contingent upon interest and registration).

Join True Core on February 29, 2020 for a same-sex partner competition with Rx and Scaled divisions.

COST: $125/team (early bird); $150/team (after 02/1).  All sales are final.  Only registrations recieved by 2/10 are guaranteed a t-shirt. 

DIVISION STANDARDS

RX: RX means you can do a vast majority of named CrossFit workouts as prescribed. Working weights of C&J 95/135, Snatch 65/95, Deadlift 155/225, Wallballs 14/20, S2O 65/95, Front Squats 95/135. Chest to bar pull ups, double unders, and T2B are fair game.

SCALED: Working weights of C&J 65/95, Snatch 55/75, Deadlift 105/185, Wallballs 14/20, S20 55/75, Front squats 65/95. Bodyweight movements will be ring rows, jumping pull ups, knees above hips, single unders. If you need to scale more, we will offer further scaling options. 

MASTERS: Open to athletes 40 and over. Both athletes must be over 40. Working weights of C&J 95/135, Snatch 65/95, Deadlift 155/225, Wallballs 14/20, S2O 65/95, Front Squats 95/135. Regular pull ups, double unders, push ups and knees to elbow are fair game.

Please note, if we do not get sufficient interest in the masters division, athletes will be moved to RX or Scaled.

If not completed before the 15:00 time cap, score will be cap + uncompleted reps.

Row -- 120/90 Calories

Barbell -- 135#/95#

Add 3 reps each round after the completed barbell cycle is completed until time is up.

Partners may switch at any time.

Row -- The row can be completed however partners decide. It is NOT a buy-in. Calories on the rower do not count towards AMRAP score, however, if all required calories are not finished in allowed time, each calorie under requirement will be reduced from score.  

For example, 100 repetitions on the barbell are performed in men's rx division, but only 100 calories are completed on the rower, the score would be 80. 

Scaled/Masters 

Row - 90/70 calories

Barbell - 95#/65#

 

Final -- 12:00 Cap

50/35 Cal Bike

50 Box Jumps

40 DB Step-Ups (50/35)

30 DB Snatches (50/35)

20 Pull-Ups

10 Cleans 135/95

 

In 12 minutes complete Part 1 and Part 2

Part 1 - Using one barbell, partners will work together to get through decreasing reps and increasing weight of snatches and thrusters. Partners may switch at any time. Part 1 time will be used as a tie break time.

Part 2- With the time remaining, using one barbell, Partner A will work up to a heavy thruster and Partner B will work up to a heavy snatch. *Scaled/Masters -- With time remaining partners will accumulate as many reps as possible ground to overhead.
