Workouts

Combat Corral: Athletes will begin in the center near a 6' × 6' corral (gated enclosure). There will be a variety of sand-filled weights/bags ranging from 20 to 80 lbs. spread out in a circle around the corral, approx. 20ft from the center. The objective is to retrieve every weight as quickly as possible and get them into the corral. The athlete must start with one hand touching any side of the corral. Time begins when the judge says “go”, and time stops when the last bag touches the ground inside the corral. The athlete must be within reach of the gates when dropping each bag into the corral. In other words, athletes may not throw the weights; they must be dropped in over the gate. The weights may be retrieved in any order, and athletes may begin on any side of the corral.

Farm Strong Carry: This is a two-stage challenge. Starting with a 75 lb log for females and 125 lb for males, athletes will pick up their log and weave through a series of upright logs and then return back to the start/finish line. Athletes will return their logs (with control) to a circle on the ground where the log started. After returning the log, athletes will do one more lap while carrying a sandball—100 lb for women and 200 lb for men. The time will stop when athletes cross the finish line, back where you started. The fastest time receives the best score.

Simple breakdown- Pick up a heavy log, carry it down and back weaving around some logs, set the log down, pick up a sandball and do the same thing.

Go Ruck It Up: This event is a timed circuit that turns up the intensity with a weighted vest—20 lbs for men and 10 lbs for women. Athletes will grind through a metcon of hand-release push-ups, sit-ups, burpees over box, and bearcrawl to the finish.
Men: 15 hand-release push-ups, 20 sit-ups, and 10 burpees over box.
Women: 10 hand-release push-ups, 15 sit-ups, and 10 burpees over box.

After completing all three of those movements, athletes will bearcrawl approximately 50 feet to the finish line and hit a button to stop the clock.

Hammer Time: Athletes will test their grip, shoulder, and mental toughness in this static strength challenge. Each competitor will hold a sledgehammer in each hand—5 kg (12 lbs) for females and 10 kg (22 lbs) for males—with arms extended to the sides (a slight bend in the elbow is acceptable). When gripping the hammer, the athlete must leave a gap of approximately 1 inch between their hand and the Anvil/head of the hammer. The time will start when their arms are extended and in the correct position. The athlete's hands may not go above the top of their head, and the tops of the hammer  must remain above the tops of their shoulders. Time will stop as soon as either hammer drops below the shoulder. If the judge tells the athlete their hands are too high and the athlete is unable to lower their hands into the correct positions within 3 seconds, the time will stop. The athlete with the longest hold time will be awarded the best score.

Sandball Send: Competitors will make 3 attempts to launch a med ball overhead/behind them as far as possible, using a 10 lb ball for women and a 20 lb ball for men. Points are determined by how far each athlete’s throw compares to the rest of the competitors. Athletes and the ball will begin on a rubber square mat approximately 2.5 ft wide. The athlete must start fully on the mat and must remain on the mat the entire time. If the athlete steps off at all during their throw, that throw does not count, and it will count as 1 of their 3 attempts. The ball must begin on the ground and travel in only one direction, up. No swinging or reaching back with the ball to build momentum. Once the ball has been lifted off the ground, it must continue in the upward direction. The ball may begin anywhere on the ground between the athlete’s legs as long as it remains on the mat. Judges will mark each throw and then measure the furthest of the 3 as their score.

Timber Lift: This event challenges athletes to deadlift a log of timber fitted with a bar that is attached by a chain. Similar to a deadlift, the athlete must lift the log by fully extending their legs and back to a full upright position with hips pressed forward. The log is divided into segments marked with numbers 1–15. Each section increases in weight as the athlete works their way down the log. Athletes will have 10 sec after finishing a lift to reposition and begin their next lift. Those who complete the most segments will earn the best score. An athlete may choose to accept their score after completing a difficult lift and not attempt the following section. If an athlete fails to complete a lift, they may attempt that same section one more time. However, if they complete the lift on the second attempt, that will be their final score, they may not advance to the next section. If they do not complete the second attempt, the previous section they did complete will be their score. Women will begin at section 1, Men will begin at section 4.

Athletes may chose to skip up to 3 sections, ONE time. Example: If male athlete choses to skip sections 7 and 8, they can do so, but they can not skip any more sections after that, event though they only used 2 or the 3 skips. If the athlete choses to skip a section and fails to complete their next lift, they may not go backwards to attempt any section they skipped.

Lastly, this event has a 90 SEC TIME CAP. Therefore, athletes must keep moving. They can not use the entire 10 sec rest on every lift if they plan to make it to the bigger lifts. Pro tip: go faster on the early lifts so you can use the full 10 sec to recover on the heavier lifts.

Tractor Pull: Competitors will pull a tractor 50 feet using a rope attached to the tractor. Athletes will be in a seated position with their feet braced against a wooden platform. The goal is to pull the load as fast as possible. When the tractor is close enough, the athlete will reach out and ring a bell hanging on the front of the tractor to stop the clock.

Wheelbarrow Wrangler: Athletes will carry 3 feed bags 50 ft to load into a wheelbarrow. Men: 2 × 100 lb bags and 1 × 50 lb. Women: 3 × 50 lb bags. They will then push a wheelbarrow back to the starting point by weaving in and out of a series of logs. If they tip over a log by hitting it at any point, they must reverse and attempt to maneuver around that log again. Time stops when the athlete crosses the finish line.
