VETWOD 2020 - to benefit 555 Fitness
About This Competition
Welcome to VETWOD 2020 - to benefit 555 Fitness!
We are so thankful to be able to collaborate with 555 Fitness for our 3rd annual competition.
VETWOD 2020 will benefit 555 Fitness and is centered around 9/11. We could not be more excited for this collaboration. 555, Like VETWOD, is a nonprofit that focuses on the physical and mental well-being of first responders with the ultimate goal of reducing first responder deaths. The emphasis on fitness, community and resources is very powerful for our first responders to be successful on and off shift. Our first responders need to be physically fit for duty but it is imperative that they are also mentally fit for duty. Firefighters, Police and EMS are exposed to death and destruction daily. Very often, the psychological toll and battles leave trauma that follows them home to their personal lives and relationships. The statistics for first responder suicide is very high. That is unacceptable and we are joining 555 Fitness to combat suicide and other mental health issues in the first responder community. We want to support them so they know that they are appreciated and THEY ARE NEVER ALONE!
All the proceeds of VETWOD 2020 will go to support 555 Fitness, which provides grants to first responder departments that need fitness equipment and programming. The beneficiary departments will host bi-weekly or monthly community-based workouts to improve community/neighborhood relationships, specifically with at-risk youth, minorities, etc. to promote health and community.
You can help us make a difference.
--------
Workouts will take place September 9th-September 24th, one workout per week and one "floater" workout for a total of 3 scores. Workouts will open Wednesday first thing in the morning and close for submission the following Thursday at the end of the day.
--------
***Due to COVID, for this event we are allowing teams to be remote... BUT it will be up to the athletes responsibility to abide by the guidelines for submissions. The score/video submission must:
-Have no music or very low music volume, so the judges team can hear the athletes clearly
-Have NO disconnection/lag/screen-freeze/blurriness beyond recognition in the video
-Have a timer clearly on screen or in frame
-Have the video be a vertically split screen with clear view
-All other team standards apply (this is not a separate team division)
-The athletes should view their own video and ensure it is “good to go” for submission
-And as always, any questions should be asked well in advance of submission deadlines
