About This Competition

WELCOME TO DARK HORSE ROWING X THROWDOWNS - WEEK 4!


We are thrilled you want continue to the final week of our event. Information regarding the competition date, workouts and divisions can all be found on our landing page. From here, you can also register & view leaderboards.


Quick reminder, this is a FREE competition in the spirit of community and providing those that wish to be involved with an opportunity to do something in all the current uncertainty.


So with that being said here's a few 'rules' for entry.


  • This is a FREE competition in the spirit of community and doing something for the next final week - dont be a d*ck with entries just to make yourself look good on a leaderboard.
  • There are NO prizes on offer and we're leaving it up to you to be honest with your submissions.
  • You have 2 weight categories available to choose from LWT or HWT. No we're not going to ask you to prove this so please don't email us pics of scales.
  • Each week will have 3 workouts scheduled release on the Monday at 01:00am PST.
  • You can retry each as many times as you wish, but only ONE SUBMISSION will count and when the clock hits 00:00 PST entry will close.
  • Photos and videos as proof of score are optional. Again this is a free competition so we trust you to be honest with your submissions.
  • Workouts will be no longer than 30mins in length (so no marathon rows). We want this to be something to enjoy not turn you off rowing for the future.

Workouts

EVENT 1. BACON SANDWICH


ROW for distance:

5 rounds of 1 mins @ 26 spm 1 mins rest in between

5 mins rest

5 rounds of 1 mins @ 26 spm 1 mins rest in between.


  • Score is the total amount of meters accumulated in the 10 mins of rowing.
  • Meters rowed in rest times DO NOT count.
  • Set monitor for Intervals variable --> Time --> 1:00 mins --> 1:00 mins rest x4 on the 5th round ensure you add 1:00 work --> 5:00 rest and then return to 1:00 work --> 1:00 rest for the remaining 5 intervals.
  • If you are not working on a Concept 2 machine accumulate as many meters as possible and total at the end.


EVENT 2: FRIDAY NIGHT DELIGHT


Row for total meters:


2 mins --> 30 sec rest

1 min --> 1 min rest

2 mins --> 30 secs rest

1 min --> 1 mins rest

2 mins --> 30 secs rest

1 min--> Done!


  • Score is your total meters accumulated over the workout.
  • Meters rowed during rest times DO NOT count.
  • Set monitor as Intervals variable -- > time 2:00 mins --> Rest 0:30 sec x3.
  • Open stroke rate across all times. (Your choice)
  • If you are not working on a Concept 2 machine accumulate as many meters as possible and total at the end.

EVENT 3. The Dark Horse 500 (ish)m


This Isnt your typical 500m, this is the DH version where you're going to row 600m but the first 100m don't count.

Your score is your 500m only but you must row all 600m in one, and show this on your submission.

Points are for the fastest 500m time.


  • Set your monitor to intervals variable --> distance --> 100m --> zero rest --> distance --> 500m --> check box when done.
  • Open spm (Your choice).
