Workouts
Event 2: Conditioning
- Ski Erg Interval
- 3 Rounds for Max Calories
- 1:00 Work, 1:00 Rest
Heat Format:
3 Intervals of 1:00 Work, 1:00 Rest. At the call of “Go” athletes will make their way onto the Ski Erg Platform and have 1:00 to accumulate as many calories as possible on the Ski Erg Machine. At the end of 1:00 your judge will record the calories displayed on the screen during the rest between work rounds. At the end of 3 intervals, all calories will be added together for your final score. The Ski will be programmed to 1:00 intervals with 1:00 rest, everyone will start together but it will be the athletes job to follow their Concept 2 screen.
Scoring:
The athlete’s score will be the total number of calories skii’d in the working intervals.
Event 4: CrossFit
For time:
10 - 20 - 30 - 20 - 10
Wallballs (20/14) to (10/9’)
Toes-To-Rings
(8:00 Time Cap)
A 1:00 rest will be given after Event 3 ends, a clock counting up begins for Event 4. Athletes complete as fast as possible a couplet of Wallballs and Toes to Rings with a 8:00 time cap.
Wallball standards:
At the start of each rep, the medicine ball must be in the support position in front of the athlete’s body. The medicine ball must be taken from the bottom of a squat, hip crease below the knee, and thrown to hit the specified target (9’ for women, 10’ for men in each station). The rep is credited when the centre of the ball hits the target above the silver bolt of the rogue target. If the ball hits low or does not hit the wall, it is a ‘no-rep’. A squat clean to start the set is allowed but not required as long as the ball starts on the ground.
If the ball drops to the ground from the top, it cannot be caught off the bounce to begin the next rep. The ball must settle on the ground before being picked up for the next rep.
Toes-To-Rings standards:
Athletes start by hanging from the rings, arms at full extension without the feet touching the floor, plate, or box. Heels must be brought behind the line of the rings. The rep is credited when both feet touch the rings, or the hands at the same time.
Score:
Time to complete all reps, if the athlete does not complete the work before 8:00, the athlete's score will be total number of reps completed.
Event 3: Gymnastics
- Max handstand hold for time 3:00
Event 3 begins with the athlete standing outside the 4-by-4-foot box. At the call of "Go" the athelte will have 3 minutes to establish a longest held freestanding handstand hold. The judge will start their timer when both of the athlete's hands are placed inside the designated handstand area and both feet are off the ground. The judge will stop their timer when the athlete touches or reaches beyond the border of the designated box with their hand, or any part of the athlete's body other than the hands touches the ground. Within the 3-minute window, athletes may make as many or as few attempts as they like.
Scaled Option:
Athletes may choose to scale this event by utilising the wall as support.
Scoring:
The athlete’s score will be the longest time they remained on their hands inside the designated box. If an athlete decides to scale this event, their score will be moved below the shortest freestanding handstand hold time.
Event 1: Wightlifting
- 3:00 warm up
- 2023 CrossFit Games Olympic Total Time Format
- Athletes will have three attempts of the Snatch and 3 attempts at the Clean & Jerk. Time cap: 20 seconds per lift.
Snatch event format:
Each athlete will have a 3:00 warm up session before the workout timer begins in their station. At the start of the event, an interval clock will be set for 24 rounds of :20 seconds. Each athlete will have :20 seconds to complete 1 snatch (no 2nd lifts allowed). Starting with station #1 the athlete has :20 seconds to complete their lift, the next :20 second interval starts immediately for station #2 and so on until each athlete has completed three :20 second intervals.
Snatch Standards:
Each rep starts with the bar on the floor, the athlete displaying their attempted weight on the scoreboard in their station. The bar must travel from the ground to overhead in one smooth movement into any variation of the power, squat, or split Snatch. The hang snatch is NOT permitted. The athlete must show control of the bar, locked out overhead, feet together, and inside their taped space until your judge gives a “Down” command. If a knee comes in contact with the floor, or a foot touches the tape the rep will be deemed a “no-lift”.
Clean & Jerk event:
Following the completion of the last :20 second interval of Event 1, a 5:00 clock will count down to give athletes time to warm up for the Clean & Jerk. Event 2 begins at the completion of the 5:00 warm up and follows the Snatch event format.
Clean & Jerk Standards:
Each rep starts with the bar on the floor, the athlete displaying their attempted weight on a scoreboard in their station. In the clean portion of the lift; the bar must travel in one motion from the floor to the shoulder, hang cleans are NOT permitted. Power, squat, and split cleans are permitted. If the elbow makes contact with the knee during the clean, the lift will be deemed a “no-lift”. In the Jerk portion of the lift; the bar must travel from the shoulders to locked out overhead, any style of overhead lift is acceptable (press, push press, or jerk any style). The athlete must show control of the bar, locked out overhead, feet together, and inside their taped space until your judge gives a “Down” command. If a knee comes in contact with the floor, or a foot touches the tape the rep will be deemed a “no-lift”.
Scoring:
Athletes' heaviest completed lift from Event 1 will be added to the heaviest lift from Event 2 and bodyweight. We will be utilising the Sinclair Score Calculator and rank athletes by their “Sinclair Score”. The Sinclair Calculator is a tool used in the sport of weightlifting to compare the performances of athletes of different body weights and determine a hypothetical "Sinclair Total." This Total is an adjusted measure of an athlete's performance, considering their body weight and the coefficient, and it provides a way to assess how an athlete's performance would theoretically compare to others if they were all in the same weight class. This allows for a fair comparison of athletes and helps identify the most outstanding lifters regardless of their body weight, fostering a fair and competitive environment in the sport.
