Scaled Nation CrossFit Spring Classic 2021
About This Competition
Scaled Nation CrossFit Spring Classic 2021!
Introduction
We're so excited you're interested in joining us. What is the Spring Classic? This ONLINE event series allows individuals to compete (from the box or from home) that might otherwise be hesitant. Our goal is to remove the traditional barriers, advanced movements, and gymnastics so that everyone has the opportunity to experience the thrill of competition. It will be fun, it will be challenging, but…. It is for YOU.
This is an individual beginner/scaled competition with Divisions for both Men and Women; however, we are LGBTQ+ friendly. Our verbiage uses "Men" and "Women" to simplify the divisions only. However, you may choose freely to register under the division you wish to compete under, even if you do not identify on the binary.
How do I know I'm ready?
If you are already training without pain and loving your regular daily CrossFit workouts…
You're ready
Caveat - be your own advocate and use common sense.
Am I Over Overqualified?
What constitutes beginner/scaled? Well, you definitely aren't the athlete regularly doing RX WODs! The Spring Classic goal is to promote healthy and friendly competition for those who routinely scale WODS. It also doesn't necessarily mean you just started CrossFit a month ago. In terms of the Spring Classic, a beginner/scaled means that you have not yet mastered advanced movements and gymnastics. There will be no box jumps and no activity traditionally done from a rig (toes to bar, pull-ups, etc.)
For the integrity of the event, we kindly ask that if you CAN do any of the example movements above, you sit this competition out and allow the true beginner/scaled athlete to challenge and push themselves with other beginner/scaled athletes. If you have any questions about the above, we would love to discuss it with you. We are hoping this will ensure the best event possible.
Workouts
Workouts will focus less on skill, more on capacity.
Workouts will be released at 5:00 pm CST, 6:00 pm EST on Thursdays, and will need to be completed with scores entered by 7:00 pm CST, 8:00 pm EST Monday evenings. A video or picture will be required (one or the other). Your athlete dashboard gives you space for the video link or allows you to upload a photo.
With every workout release, the following week's movements will also be released, so you know what activities you will need to practice and focus on for the next workout.
Here are a few movements you COULD expect if you are worried: air squats, goblet squats, step-ups, sit-ups, med ball slams, etc. No workout will be longer than 20 minutes.
