Gauntlet XII - Dirty Dozen
About This Competition
The funnest fitness festival in the Tri-State returns Saturday, June 18th!
The 4 person (2 male / 2 female) team throwdown will feature a Competitor's Category, a Not So Serious Category, and NEW this year an OLD & CRUSTY (Master's Division)!
This competition tests your ability to communicate as a team, problem solve on the fly, and of course your overall work capacity.
The format is a shotgun cannonball style - meaning your team will work through 3-4 events 90 minutes straight with minimal breaks in between.
DIVISIONS -
Competitor: This category is for the RX athlete who loves to compete, can do all the Open workouts RX’d.
Not So Serious: This division is great for first time athletes and people who just want to throw down. The workouts will still be very challenging but will be programmed with the athlete who typically just wants to scale and bail.
Old & Crusty Category! This is our version of the Master's Category. Each participant must have a minimum age of 40 to compete. Additionally each team will start with a total score in accordance with the total age of the team.
For example if each athlete is 40 the total score is 160
If each athlete is 50 the total score is 200, etc.
This team age score will be added to the overall points total for the competition.
The events will be take place at multiple locations throughout downtown Portsmouth with the gym being the central hub.
Also, the afterparty will be lit! This year we'll have live music and good times up the street at Patties & Pints.

Workouts
Athletes break into M/F/M/F order
5 rounds for time of the following relay
Athlete 1: Sprints Up & Down Levee
Athlete 2: 5 x Burpees Over Kayak + 5 x Males power clean axle bar (rx 135, NSS 95) Females deadlift axle bar (rx 135, NSS 95)
Athlete 3&4 are resting
*Details: On 321 Go, Athlete 1 begins the levee sprint while Athlete 2 starts burpee and barbell movement. When Athlete 1 has returned, they tag athlete 2 once they've completed the burpee/barbell couplet and athlete 2 begins the levee sprint. Athlete 3 begins the burpee/barbell couplet once the tag has been conducted. This order continues until ALL athletes have done each exercise 4 total times.
Once Athlete 4 returns back from the levee sprint, all athletes run up the levee and follow the course back to the gym. When all 4 athletes cross the finish line at the gym- time is called.
**A time cap of 18:00 will be given to complete the 5RFT. For every rep not completed, a 10 second penalty per rep will be given.
*** This event will act as a tie breaker.
15:00 AMRAP
Team breaks into mixed gender pairs (1/2).
Each athlete chooses their couplet and STAYS with that couplet the entire workout.
PAIR A:
Athlete 1: 9 x Thruster (155/105) (105/75) + 15/12 cals Bike
Athlete 2: 15 x C2B Pullups / Regular Pullups + 15/12 cals Rower
PAIR 2:
Athlete 3: 9 x Overhead Squat (155/105) / Front Squat 105/75 + 15/12 cals Bike
Athlete 4: 15 x T2B / Hanging Knee Raises + 15/12 cals Rower
Details:
Pair A begins the workout and starts the thrusters and pullups at the same time. The athletes cannot advance to the ERGs until both athletes are done with their movement. When BOTH athletes are done with their ERGs, they then tag Pair B to begin their couplet.
Reminder: Each athlete sticks with their couplet the entire AMRAP.
7:00 AMRAP
Team breaks down into same sex pairs.
Athlete 1: 40ft Hand over hand rope pull (180/115) (135/90)
Athlete 2: D-Ball (100/60) (60/44lb KB Goblet carry) Bear Hug Carry at the same speed of sled drag.
*Both sled and dball must cross the line before switching.
*Once the sled crosses the finish line, the athlete that was carrying the dball, grabs the end of the rope and sprints to the other end of the course and begins pulling once the other athlete has picked up the ball.
*Must clear the cones to begin pulling - CANNOT use legs (drag), must use hand over hand pull
Athletes break into same sex paris.
7:00 AMRAP
Athlete 1: 5-10-15-20-25-30 OH Swings (53/35) (35/18)
Athlete 2: 10-20-30-40-50-60 Double Unders (Singles)
On go - athlete 1 does 5 x swings while athlete 2 does 10 x double/single unders. When they are both done, they then switch movements and keep climbing the ladder for 7 minutes.
