About This Competition

Hey Actualetes! Welcome to the first edition of the Actualize Opens 2020! We are excited for you to be a part of this:)

The 2020 CrossFit Open is almost upon us. It is the first step to qualifying for the CrossFit Games and an exciting showcase of the CrossFit community. Here, athletes like you, from all around the world, show up and push themselves further than they ever thought possible over a five-week period. Each week, beginning October 10th, CrossFit headquarters will release a workout online to be completed by the following Monday

But what if you are not interested to compete for a qualifying spot in the Games? Why should YOU still participate in the Open? Read on to find out more!

How Does This Fit Into Actualize CrossFit's Take On The Open?

Every weekend from 8AM to 2PM (outside of class hours) we will run heats for the announced workout. Each athlete will have a judge and their scores will count towards your team's victory! These workouts will not count towards your sign up limit if you are on limited or 10 class pass membership! So we highly encourage you to join, workout and get to know your fellow box mates better. After signing up, each athlete will be placed in a team. You’ll earn points for your team through a variety of ways which will be expanded on further down.

We have also heard feedback from some members who felt that they would like to do the Open workouts every week without paying USD20 to register. While we encourage athletes to sign up for the Open, especially those who are interested in participating in the competitive scene, we also understand that not everyone would like to do so. As the box has been growing in membership, Actualize CrossFit is committed to allowing as many Actualetes a chance to experience the Open in the best way possible. We will be providing judges, logistical support and keeping the box open beyond our regular hours. In addition to our past years' Opens, we will also be enhancing the Actualize CrossFit Open experience with our very own leaderboard and a new team concept. In this respect we are requiring an S$11 registration fee that will go towards #Actualize3point0.

(If you have registered for the Open on the official site, you can still sign up and your fee will be waived. Just approach Cass for a coupon code to use when signing up)

Individuals can still register through the CrossFit Games website, but it is not mandatory. You would get the benefit of an online gym-wide, region-wide and world-wide leader board with scores saved from previous years if you do so.

We want you here. Your box mates want you here. The Actualize CrossFit Open experience will be made better with you here.

Heat sign ups will be available each Friday.

What Is Black vs Yellow and Most Importantly, How Does My Team Win?

All registered and signed up athletes will be split into two teams Black or Yellow. At the end of the 5 weeks, the team with the most points wins! What do they win? Bragging rights for the year! So may the best team win!

Ways to earn points:

  1. Community! For wearing any article of clothing that is in the color of your team while doing the Open workout! (To be validated by the Judge) 2 Points.
  2. Participation! Completing the workout for the week and having your score validated. 5 Points. Bonus 10 Points for completing all 5 workouts.
  3. Sportsmanship! Judging a workout. Can be of either team. 2 Points.
  4. Grit! The top 3 Actualetes of each category, Rx Female, Male, Scaled Female, Male, will earn points for each workout! 10-7-5 points respectively. (You will have to indicate which division you are registering for at point of sign up)
  5. Spirit! Winner of the Spirit of the Open award. To be voted on by Coaches and Staff. 20 points.
  6. Face off! Each week, one athlete from each team will be nominated to face off for the workout every Saturday at 930AM. (Match ups must be head-coach approved) 10 points.

Disclaimer: Points system may be tweaked as the Organizing Committee is still finalizing the details!

How Do I Sign Up?
