About This Competition

The MoCo Throwdown is back!!! Your favorite local CrossFit competition is coming to Tough Temple CrossFit July 16th 2023!

This year we will have teams of 2 F/F or M/M with two divisions of RX and Intermediate.

Pricing

Early bird price: $150 per team (Early bird special goes from April 28th - May 31st)

Regular Team price: $200 (June 1st until close of registration)

We will have athlete gift bags with athlete t-shirts and goodies from our sponsors. As well as some sweet prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd in all categories! 

No Refunds. In the case of an extenuating circumstance you can contact the event organizers and a refund will be determined by all event organizers. 

Standards for RX and Intermediate

If you can RX majority of WODs at your home gym and most CrossFit benchmarks, sign up for RX

If you can RX a few WODs at your home gym, a couple CrossFit benchmarks, or you're fairly new to CrossFit, sign up for Intermediate.

Workouts

We will begin releasing WODs first week of May. There will be 3 WODs for each division, with the top teams in each category competing in a final WOD to determine 1st, 2nd, 3rd places.

Each WOD will have full description and standards when released.  

MoCo Throwdown has established itself as one of the most fun and well organized local CrossFit competitions in the area. Built by local affiliate owners for the greater MoCo DMV CrossFit community! We hope to see you on the competition floor, or cheering on your local teams!

Workouts

Ball & Chain (Intermediate) - For Time

  • 400m Med Ball Run (both partners)
  • 80 Wall Balls
  • 6 Rope Climbs
  • 60 Wall Balls
  • 4 Rope Climbs
  • 40 Wall Balls
  • 2 Rope Climbs

Med Ball: 20lb (men)/14lb (women)

Reps must be split evenly between partners. Must alternate rope climbs. If partner cannot complete rope climb and wants to sub, they must complete 7 burpees before partner can complete the climb.

Ball & Chain (Rx) - For Time

  • 400m Med Ball Run (both partners)
  • 80 Wall Balls
  • 8 Rope Climbs
  • 60 Wall Balls
  • 6 Rope Climbs
  • 40 Wall Balls
  • 4 Legless Rope Climbs

Med Ball: 20lb (men)/14lb (women)

Grip, Don't Rip (Intermediate) - For Time

6 Rounds:
1 Round of DT
20 Knee Tucks
75 Single Unders

DT = 12 Deadlifts, 9 Hang Power Cleans, 6 Shoulder to Overhead
105lb (men), 75lb (women)

Partner 1 must complete entire set of DT. Once they begin their Knee Tucks, Partner 2 can begin DT. Partner cannot advance to next movement until leading partner finishes that movement. Partners complete 3 rounds each.

Grip, Don't Rip (Rx) - For Time

6 Rounds:

1 Round of DT
15 Toes to Bar
75 Double Unders

DT = 12 Deadlifts, 9 Hang Power Cleans, 6 Shoulder to Overhead
155lb (men), 105lb (women)

Partner 1 must complete entire set of DT. Once they begin their Toes to Bar, Partner 2 can begin DT. Partner cannot advance to next movement until leading partner finishes that movement. Partners complete 3 rounds each.

Event 1 - Hot & Heavy

Partner 1: 5:00 to establish 1RM Snatch
Partner 2: 5:00 Echo Bike Calories

Partner 2: 5:00 to establish 1RM Clean
Partner 1: 5:00 Echo Bike Calories

 

Scoring:
Part A = total combined weight lifted
Part B = total Echo Bike calories

Event 1 - Hot & Heavy

Partner 2: 5:00 Echo Bike Calories
