About This Competition

Kia Ora Whanau. 

We are running our 2nd Matariki Mayhem "competition" to give our members an opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and get a taste of what it's like to participate in a competition.

This will be a pairs competition (Male/Female). However, we know that some may want to hit it out with the same sex and that's fine by us!

It's about stepping out of your comfort zone and overcoming that fear or your perception of the unknown

10MIN Time Cap

30x Sync Hang Power Cleans 

60x Wall Balls

30x Sync Front Squats

20x Sync Hand-Release Push Ups

2min rest Straight into WOD 2: Matariki

Time Cap: 8 Minutes

Workout Description:
Each team has 8 minutes to find a 1-rep max:

Athlete 1: Must complete a 1RM Clean & Jerk
Athlete 2: Must complete a 1RM Snatch
🔁 Rules:

  • Each athlete must choose a different movement — one athlete snatches, the other clean & jerks.
  • You may not both perform the same lift.
  • You may lift as many times as needed within the time cap to achieve your max.
  • 🏋️‍♂️ Score = Combined total weight lifted between both movements.
    (Example: 70kg Snatch + 100kg Clean & Jerk = 170kg score

Begginers and Pakeke ONLY

Athlete 1: Must complete a 1RM Deadlift
Athlete 2: Must complete a 1RM Clean (Power or Squat Clean allowed)
🔁 Rules:

 

AMRAP 8mins

Athlete 1: Deadlift Hold

Athlete 2: 3x Barbell Deadlifts
6x Burpees Over Bar
9x Hand Release Push Ups

Athlete 2 may only begin their reps while Athlete 1 is actively holding the top position of the deadlift.


If Athlete 1 drops or breaks the hold:

Athlete 2 must stop immediately, even mid-rep.
No reps completed during a broken hold will count.
Judges should cue “GO” when the hold is secure, and “STOP” if the hold breaks.

Time Cap: 10 Minutes

Divisions: RX / Intermediate

🔁 Workout Flow:
Complete the following as a pair (shared reps):

30x Toes-to-Bar
50x Double Unders or 100x Single Unders
70x Alternating Dumbbell Ground to Overhead (G2OH)


BUT... every 2 minutes, starting at 0:00, both athletes must stop and complete:
🔔 10x Sync Burpees 
Then continue where you left off.

Score: Time to complete all reps or total reps completed if capped at 10 minutes.

BEGGINERS AND PAKEKE ONLY!

Complete the following as a pair (shared reps):

30x L-Kick/Knee Raises (Pakeke)
50x Double Unders or 100x Single Unders
70x Alternating Dumbbell Ground to Overhead (G2OH)


BUT... every 2 minutes, starting at 0:00, both athletes must stop and complete:
🔔 5x Sync Burpees 
Then continue where you left off.

40x Box Jumps (Shared)

200m run (together)

40m Burpee Broad Jump

200m run (together)

40 Over Head Wall Ball Lunges
