About This Competition

The Turkey Day Throwdown is Excel's annual in-house competition!  For Excel members only.

 
The entrance fee is simple - 1 frozen turkey per person, which will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.  The goal this year is 100 turkeys!  So, bring an extra turkey!
 
Each team is comprised of 3 people, 1 of which must be a female.
 
Rx and Scaled division.
 
Rx Standards: 
  • Pull-ups (but not necessarily everyone on team)
  • Male Deaadlift 1RM over 225 lbs
  • Female Deadlift 1RM over 155 lbs
  • Must be willing to have fun
 
Scaled Standards:
  • Must be willing to have fun

Workouts

There will be 2 sleds, one with a 45 lbs plate on it and one with a 25 lbs plate on it.  

On 'go,' athlete 1 will push a sled 20 ft to the echo bike.  Then, complete as many calories as he/she chooses.  When he/she has had enough, he/she will then push the sled back to his waiting teammates.

Athlete 2 will then push a sled down, perform max calories, and push sled back.

Switch as often as possible, but the ticket to and from the bike is the sled push.

Max calories in 8 minutes.

All three athletes begin standing next to a rower.  At "go," athlete 1 rows 200/100 meters. 

-When completed, athlete 1 performs as many toes to bar as possible. 

-As soon as athlete 1 gets off the rower, athlete 2 begins rowing. 

-When athlete 2 finishes his/her row, he/she then begins toes to bar while athlete 1 rests.

- As soon as athlete 2 gets off the rower, athlete 3 begins rowing.

Continue on in this cycle for the entire 12 minutes.  Score is total toes-to-bar.

Scaled- sub abmat sit-ups for toes-to-bar

 

Each athlete will get 1 attempt at max repetitions Overhead squat.  You may not rack the bar on your shoulders or back.  Once it is overhead, it must stay there until you cannot perform more squats.

135/95 lbs

Sclaed: Front squats, with option to scale to 95/65 if absolutely necessary (can't do 1 at heavier weight)
