Back To School Partner Throwdown
About This Competition
Dean CrossFit Back to School Partner Throwdown
Fitness has always been about more than exercise. It's about showing up for one another. This year's Dean CrossFit Back to School Partner Throwdown isn't about making a profit. It's about making a difference. Every day, families in our community are forced to choose between paying bills and buying the school supplies their children need to succeed. Together, we can help remove that burden.
We're inviting athletes, friends, families, and local businesses to come together for a morning of fitness, teamwork, and giving back.
Registration is $50 per team ($25 per person), and every team is asked to bring at least one backpack filled with new school supplies. Teams are encouraged to donate additional backpacks if they're able. Every backpack will be distributed to our partner elementary, middle, and high schools, helping students begin the school year with confidence and the tools they need to learn.
As a thank you for supporting the cause, every registered athlete will receive a free event T-shirt. This event is about community over competition. Every rep completed represents a student supported. Every backpack donated is an investment in a child's future. Whether you're stepping onto the competition floor or cheering from the sidelines, you're helping ensure that a child walks into school prepared, confident, and ready to succeed.
One community. One purpose. One backpack at a time.
Register a team. Donate a backpack. Change a student's school year.

Standards
Partners complete the runs together.
Tandem box jumps/step-overs require both athletes to move simultaneously.
Chest-to-bar, pull-ups, clean & jerks, and ring rows are total team reps and may be split however the team chooses.
Both athletes perform the Farmer Carry together.
This format creates constant movement, allows stronger athletes to strategically absorb more work, and produces dramatic finishes as teams race through the final carry and sprint to the finish. It's exactly the kind of high-volume championship event that feels worthy of deciding the overall winner.

Why This Workout Works
This event shifts the competition from pure conditioning into strength endurance.
Heavy barbell cycling rewards smart strategy and communication.
Synchronized movements force constant teamwork and pacing.
Teams that sprint the deadlifts too aggressively will pay for it during the shoulder-to-overhead.
The tie break creates separation before the final lifting segment, making every synchronized rep matter.
This is an excellent second event because it naturally builds toward a fast, dramatic final workout where the championship can still be won. One change I would strongly recommend is replacing the synchronized box jump overs with synchronized burpees for the RX division. Burpees are easier to judge, safer under fatigue, and create a more exciting visual for spectators while keeping the intensity high.
