Central Valley Throwdown 2022
About This Competition
We're back!
April 2nd & 3rd, 2022
The Central Valley Throwdown hosted by Prima Wawona is back. This is the Central Valley's premier CrossFit competition. Teams of 4 (2 men & 2 women) will compete on Saturday followed by Individuals competing on Sunday. That means you can compete both days if you're up for the challenge. Compete on a team Saturday then come back and compete as an Individual on Sunday. We have Scaled, Masters, and RX divisions so there is a place for everyone to join in and compete.
The Central Valley Throwdown is the main attraction of the Reedley Chamber of Commerce Health & Fitness Expo that will be running the entire weekend. There will be vendors, informational booths, food vendors, and a whole bunch of health and fitness activities going on at the venue.
The venue is Prima Wawona fruit packing facility in Reedley. It has a large 38,000 square foot covered area where most of the competition will take place. The Health and Fitness Expo will be next to the competition area so there will be plenty of things to see and do.
We have set aside space to create an athlete camping area just a short walk from the venue. Bring your trailer, tent, or RV and camp out with other athletes and families.
The Central Valley Throwdown will run rain or shine. There will be no refunds for this event. Substitutions can be made for team members.
Teams
In order to ensure that we will have enough judges as volunteers, we've taken some advice from other national events. On the concept of the "fifth teamate", the fifth person that signs up with your four person team commits to voluteering as a judge on the day of the event. Judges need to have proficiency in understanding and seeing movement standards. Completing the CrossFits Games online judges course is recommended.

10 Hang Clusters (Rx-95/65, Masters/Scaled-75/55)
75' Suicide Sprints
Description
Athletes will begin on their start/finish mats. On 3-2-1 go athletes will begin their first set of 10 Hang Clusters. The first rep starts when an athlete takes the bar from the ground and stands at full extension (knees, hips, and shoulders behind bar). The hang position cannot go below the knee. A rebound hang cluster is allowed. During the squat portion of the hang cluster the athletes hip crease must go below parallel before they thrust the bar into the overhead position. The rep is complete when the elbows are locked out overhead with arms in line with the ears. The bar only needs to be taken from the ground on the first rep of each set or the first rep after the bar has been dropped during a set. Once a set of 10 clusters is complete the athlete may move into the 75’ suicide sprint (increments of 25’). After 5 rounds the clock will stop when the athlete has returned to their finishing mat.
*At each 25’ mark an athlete must have both feet cross the line before they can move or return back to the start position. This includes each time the athlete crosses the start/finish line.
